M2 Comp Allocations

Are dealers currently receiving allocations for orders? I’m not sure if I’m being given the runaround but 2 major M dealers near me are saying an order wouldn’t show up for 5-6 months. They are also saying they wouldn’t have allocation for almost 2 months. Thanks for the info guys.

The dealer I am working with has not received MY2021 allocations yet. They expect to have them soon, but nothing firm.

For what its worth I was given a prod number for 2021 from my dealer on Monday. I checked online as well as called to check the status and the prod number checks out. MyBmw online has it listed as a 21 as well. But no production date confirmed yet.

I was also given a production number last week. The BMW site confirmed its a MY2021 but that's all the information I have received thus far.

Alright so some dealers do have allocations. I’ll press my dealers again and see if I get an order through. Hopefully if I do get one it’s not a 5-6 month wait.

Thanks for confirming. I talked to my CA yesterday and they did not have MY21 production numbers yet. Hoping soon.

marshall834 I think you had a MY2020 that was cancelled, right? I think those got priority. trackday_chuck did you also have a cancelled MY2020?

I ordered mine 5/16 after the announcement to the end of the EU Program.

Right but did you order from a 2020 allocation that was changed to a 2021 or from scratch a 2021? My understanding was that those that have been receiving the 2021 allocations thus far have been those that ordered 2020 allocations that were cancelled.

I heard this as well. Any prior 2020 allocations unfulfilled are being fulfilled as a 2021 production. Have to assume any orders thereafter will be 2021 And take longer than the '2020' orders pushed into 2021.

Wondering if there is a small price hike between the 2020 vs 2021 models.

I've been told no on the price hike but who knows!

true. especially with the hit in the overall market from Covid. even better if you got bumped to 2021 allocation and they allowed you to get it at the 2020 pricing. even sweeter!!!

Honestly not sure lol. When I ordered, my CA told me "it will most likely be a 2021" but he couldn't confirm just with everything that's going on.

So in summary - I didn't have an order cancellation and I've always been under the assumption it was a 21. But who knows!

Hmm okay, that's interesting. Is it a local MN dealer?

Yea they are local. For what it's worth when I called around I asked if they had available allocations. They said yes, faxed over the request, then we found out the fax no longer worked. E-mailed the request and received confirmation from Raven.

So maybe it was a "leftover" 2020 allocation they had that has since been transferred to a 21 model?

Yea, I'm kind of thinking that's what it is. I hate not having an allocation!

So I had a 2020 order for euro delivery on 6/4. It was pushed to end of June which I declined and was considering my options. My dealer put the car in "status 2" he said which I think meant it was unsold, while I was deciding whether to try and wait until spring 2021 for another euro delivery or just buy one now. When the news dropped that ED was being cancelled I decided to just get the car I had already order. BMW cancelled the order a few days later. My dealer said he could get another allocation if desired, which is where the 2021 came from.

Pricing he has agreed will be the same if BMW does not increase the price of the 2021 cars, so we'll see.

Got it...that makes more sense. I've seen somewhere that pricing hasn't changed...but they change that all the time, so we'll see.

For anyone curious my 2021 production is now listed as "Scheduled For Production- with no confirmed production date". As of yesterday it just said "Order Received". So progress? But not much

Thanks for all the help guys. One of my locals dealers accepted placing an order for me and said he should have an allocation rather soon for a 21MY. Woohoo!

Great! Forgot to post that I got mine late Friday. Waiting on ED date. The day I wanted wasn't available, so hoping for an alternative that's close to it...seems like my trip is getting longer!
