*** bootmod3 - MaxCool Mode + N55 Startup Roar - New Features ***

Announcing a couple of new bootmod3 features just released

First one is ‘MaxCool mode’ - this will reduce your water coolant targets by 10 degrees Celsius and applies to ALL engines and software (ROM) versions!

Moreover, for the B series engines this enables the intercooler pump to be active at all times to lower intake air temperatures!

We also added GTS startup roar for the N55 EWG and PWG172X!

Use the standard ‘config’ menu on each map to toggle these features on any map including custom, stock and OTS.

Is there any reason why someone wouldn't enable 'MaxCool mode' all the time? I'm just wondering why this is an option in the UI instead of being enabled in every map by default?

I would imagine because it could kill your gas mileage, you may not want it on at all times, but not 100% confident in that answer.

Just read the thread on their Facebook page and others have asked similar questions as well. This feature will basically put an additional load on your water pump since it will be running more often to keep the water temp lower than what the oem target is. Also, this mode affects all 3 driving modes (Efficient, Sport, and Sport+). In other words, the target water temp will be lower even when cruising in Efficient. Tying this mode to the driving modes would make more sense IMO since most people probably would want it ON in Sport/Sport+. I never had any problem with my water temp even when tracking in 100+F weather but it's a nice feature. Maybe I'll play with it some time

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the update.

this is cool, and love to see you guys working on new features.

But as a humble suggestion, you guys should have ALL HANDS ON DECK to get the new DME unlocked, instead!! All these new features etc will be rendered useless to most of us if we can't get the flashing back as we used to before BMW's software lock update.

Please!! We are all awaiting

Interesting, will be following along. I've noticed a big difference in the coolant temps with the mod changes. Is this different?

are the 2019 models unlocked? I'm currently in the market for 2020 m2, but since it can't be tuned, I'm reconsidering getting another car, or maybe going for a used one... very few options on the used market. Would it be safe to say that 2019's can be modded?

Still not sold on this MaxCool feature. We need more information about it.

In Sport+ mode there is already a MaxCool feature from factory. So when BM3 MaxCool is on it runs the pumps even in Comfort?

Overcooling an engine is not a good idea during regular driving. I would not want maxcool on all the time on a street car. Maybe a dedicated track car yes.. Water and circulation pumps/fans might wear out sooner and fuel economy will be crap during regular non spirited driving.

When I start my M2c I typically leave it in Comfort mode because the engine heats up quicker. When I initially got my car I put it in Sport+ all the time (even cold) and I noticed it took forever to warm up.

Again we need more information about BM3 vs BMW's Sport+ cooling strategy.

Just a note that we've released a fix for the recent GTS Startup and MaxCool config.

If you've set up and used these features recently, we have an update. Ensure to click on "Download now, Flash later" and reflash the DME. This applies only to those that have used these features AND flashed a given map to the DME. There's no need to delete the map or get a new one again.

Background: some users reported the higher startup rpm running full time after startup instead of just a blip. This fixes it. A few also reported the maxcool was active more often then required, and this fixes that.

Be careful. My 2019 was flash friendly until a dealer visit to repair a fuzzy Nav screen. First thing they were told to do by the motherland was try the latest software. No more OBD flashing for me. So, after waiting & waiting for PTF to unlock, I finally gave up & pulled my ECU shipped to Ontario & had them unlock.
.....now, I avoid the dealer!

Works perfect for me. You probably didn’t redownload the map like they said or its placebo.

I hate that happened to you. It's unfortunate because although I'm sure you do your own oil changes and work in between dealer visits - it's nice to have the trips to dealer noted in the VMI for future resale.
