Decided to tackle a DIY with ambient lighting. A ton of work but the end result was well worth it.

That's awesome! Yes that was likely me. I live right there. I was likely test driving on Portola after installing the "UCP" ultimate clutch pedal !

Installed the pedals today. Started to question my sanity trying to drill through the metal brake pedal. Tried to step up the holes which took forever. On the last one I just used the punch mark I made and started with a smaller bit and jumped straight to the 5/32. It cut through the pedal in seconds. Lesson learned. Ignore the dirty floor mat.

Went for a drive and could feel the extra 10hp.

That is a must do feature when I finally get my M2C. Do you know if it will reset to half screen CarPlay during an iDrive update or when the dealer does a rest during maintenance?

That I'm not sure, I'll assume so. It took me almost 2 years to do this as I liked the split-screen with Waze and Spotify. But I like the full-screen look of Waze.

I know I shouldn't like this, but I do. Can you give more info on material and install process?

So I used an fibre optical ambient lighting kit similar to this one: https://www.dmpcardesign.com/accesso...product_id=221. You can find similar kits on ebay, the only thing to watch out for is the quality of the optical tube. Some of the cheaper kits have lesser quality tubes that have cracks and inconsistencies that the light catches and might not look great.

The kit I used had a single control module that controls 4 LEDs (one for each door and one for each side of the console). I ran power from the 12v adapter in the rear of the center console since I didn't want to splice into any wires. The wires are all hidden under the center console and the main control module is hidden under the cup holder.

I then ran power from the center console under the foot wells and through to the doors via the rubber harness hose (this was pretty tough).

The project requires a ton of trim removal, but if you're up to it the result is well worth it.

I'm happy to provide more info for anyone who would like to know more.

Was this done over the OEM leather wheel? What is the process? Looks very nice.

Installed the door/fender EVA foam seal. The engine/auto downshift sound has soften, the suspension when going over bumps has quiet down, wind noises are down, and even the cars next to you is quieter. It's rather shocking how much noise this pair of foam has taken away.

2WD vs 4WD, you can't compare the 0-100 time. Try again from 100 to 200.

Thanks, yeah i wanted to retain the heated steering wheel and have been able to do so. The only restriction was the fact that i wasn't able to install a 12 o'clock marker because the heating panels would have had to be removed.
