Came into effect 2019-03 ISTEP. So if your prod date was early -> mid feb you're SOL. Though a bench flash will solve that problem.

I believe this still won't work until the DME is flashed back to the previous version.
I think you are right. Looks like downgrade of the DME is still required for the bench flash.
I had the latest BMW DME update last week. Litchfield here in the UK cracked it in 4days and are retuning my car through the OBD.

They can tune any S55 car that has had the latest DME update from BMW through the OBD, just as before.

Jason,

Will any future changes to software updates from BMW affect my Litchfield map at a later date? If so, do they charge extra to sort it out?

Cheers

A DME update will wipe your remap, but any decent tuner (like litchfield) will put it back on again FOC.

Yeah, that's what I've been told by Iain Litchfield 👍🏻

You 100% positive they didn’t pull your DME our and do a bench flash?

As far as I’m aware there’s no other option once you get the new DME software applied as the new BTLD locks downgrades without being in boot.

BMW will have their own back door in via OBD for future OBD upgrades, so looks like Litchfield have found it that's all....

System Update:

bootmod3 update v0.10.065 is out with some great enhancements:

1) DCT Transmission Offline Flash - Flashing the DCT on the S55 is now done like with the DME tunes where data is first downloaded in full and then the DCT flash starts. This removes any dependency on your internet connection quality when flashing the transmission. TCU flashes now significantly faster than before! NOTE: If using mobile apps you'll continue to use the online based TCU flash until you get the latest update. If you use a laptop/web you'll have the new version immediately.

2) DME coding after flash - last fix we did on this resolved it for most cars but some were still needing to recoding using online recode, in most cases just after unlock if at all. This should now be fixed as well. If you have the new DME (MG1) with the B58/B48 engine this does not apply.

3) Agent/dash connectivity - further enhancements with dash auto-reconnect if cable is disconnected/reconnected. Now even minimizing the app and doing something else on your phone (e.g. call comes in, do an iMessage to someone, etc) and coming back into the bm3 app will have the dash still active including logging. A bug that at times caused logs not to get pushed to the server in case agent was powered down or cable was disconnected has also been fixed.

bootmod3 web version is updated and the new OBD Agent is out. Apps are in submission and will have the update live as soon as the app stores release them to public.

Any updates or ETA on the OBD flash for the latest BMW software update?

I might be wrong but I think flashing via OBD is fine as long as the DME remains unlocked. Do you know if they unlocked your DME via OBD or bench after the software update?
