Newbie chargepipe help

Hi. Need some help. I'm not too familiar with engines. Have a stock M2.

This morning while accelerating uphill, my car made a thud and lost power. After limping home, I popped the hood and noticed a tube was loose. Internet research led me to believe this was the chargepipe coming off. Seems this is an issue.

So I put it back on and tried to get the connection as snug as possible. Car drives normally now but when looking at the connection, there looks to be a gap.

Does this seem like the normal connection or did I miss something when placing the chargepipe back on? Or do you think there is a crack? Any other advice?

Attaching a couple pics.

Thanks for the help!

Did you hear the clip snap into place when you seated the pipe?

I think so. Not too convincing on that... I used a screwdriver to release the clip, then seated the pipe and pressed the clip back on.

I tried to pull it down and it didn't come off.

I guess I assumed the connection would look clean and snug.

Hard to tell from pics but almost looks crooked, I would imagine it would be hard to install crooked tho, I would Unclip it, inspect the pipe the best you can, there's an o ring inside the pipe, make sure that is in place, it'll make sense when you see it, apply a little oil to the o ring inside the pipe, and try to push it back on with a little wiggling, it should snap into place, lock the clip and should be good to go if nothing is broken

And buy an after market, metal charge pipe. That plastic one will break; they all do.

Cool. I'll inspect it a little closer and check the o ring.

And I'll go aftermarket if anything broken. But I don't want to start going down that road unless I need to cuz I can see it heading to doing other things...

Thanks all for the help.

Have to admit I have an aftermarket CP a forge and it is securely on but ever so slightly at an angle. I'm not having any boost leak or performance problems just assume there's some play there?

+1 its only a matter of time before stock CP fully breaks, even on a fully stock car.
