Help: lost parking tag down the middle of the dash.

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys, my wife borrowed the M2 this morning and put her plastic parking tag in the front driver's corner of the windshield. She then drove away with it there. When she turned left it slid to the middle, and right down the small gap where the defrost comes out.

There is a small section there that looks like it comes out, but I'm not sure if the dash has to come out to get that piece out.

If I leave the parking tag down in there it slides from side to side when I corner, which irritates the hell out of me.

Any ideas?

Happened to me. I just put some tape on a pencil and got it out that way. Lots of trial and error but it worked and I didn't have to pull apart the dash.

We have been doing just that, putting tape on the end of a flexible ruler, but to no avail yet. That piece looks like it just comes right out, but knowing BMW it probably has 16 bolts on the bottom holding it in.

Push the area by the glass down with your fingers. It's pretty flexible. Just keep at it. Good luck!

Welcome to the club, Here is one of my posts from over a year ago.

I had a windshield replacement and asked the guy to look for it and he couldn’t see it, it was already too far down the dash.

Ironically, What finally got it out was an autocross event! First run and I felt something in the footwell. After reaching the staging area I look down and sure enough it had gone all the way through and fallen out thanks to being shaken around on track.
Looks like you have another good excuse to hit the track now, best of luck
