Yes I certainly hope it has better cooling given the S55 is a totally different motor and cooling setup.

And that grille better have more airflow considering its cartoonish proportions. Wonder how they arrive at these percentages?

How will the S58 M2 be then I wonder? All new percentages to consider!

Why do people still take pure marketing mumbo jumbo and repeat it like gospel as if everything said was such an impressive feat?

BMW aren't going to say "well guys, instead of redesigning the whole car, we messed up the original design and tacked on a new design front bumper on a old design language car because marketing said we have to, and had to put the engine in because of the new environmental regulations, please still buy it."

Are these people so insecure about buying the car that they need these things to comfort themselves into believing in having a weird front fascia, unusable power and horrible sound is a good trade off?

Take it for what it is. ITS MARKETING
Another salty M2 owner? Why are you so insecure that you have to come defend the honor of your Civic M2?

I saw both OG and M2C parked next to each other in person at BMWNA and the new facia is a lot better looking. It is much more aggressive.

Actually, both looked frumpy compared to the Grigio Telesto M4 ZCP parked a few spots away.

Apparently you can't read or notice I don't own an M2. That's OK. It's a disability.

Again, it's all Marketing.

Can't see your info on mobile by default, you just act like all the other salty trolls so I figured you were.

Come back when you have the area of all the openings for me and the analysis that shows it was not needed at all. Everything you posted is opinion and adds nothing. Please go troll somewhere else.

It is a marketing video anyway, so what else were you expecting?

Yes, moving to 5 heat exchangers(6 for the DCT) will require more frontal opening area.

Similar to the ZL1 massively increased openings too feed air to it's 11 heat exchangers.

Redesigned frontend for improved air intake? All marketing...
CF strut brace? All marketing...
New seats, bigger brakes? All marketing...

You got it all wrong. It's all Marketing! OG M2 on the other hand tho... It's the shit

It's a lot of //Marketing, M2C, I do agree, but the switch from N55 to S55 isn't just (only) marketing: From an engineering/driving point of view it's the biggest change and the reason I have one on order. Simple as that.

Cheers

I'm sure the M4 ZCP looked cheap next to the new M5, and the M5 looks a bit soft next to the M5 Competition. The M5C just can't compete with the attention to detail and quality on the M6. And if there was an M7 you better believe it would shame the M6. And when that M8 comes out it's going to be king of the M-Civics.

I'm not attacking the M2 or anything, just exaggerating in response to the post I replied to. It's still the best M car to buy IMO. The 2 series has that tall greenhouse like the 1er before it which just doesn't look as sleek as the 4.

I did see the new M5 and M5C there also, they look rather boring .

I was 100% silver all the way but have changed my mind on light colors. Undecided on LBB or SO. BSM I think silver.

I saw the black wheels on an LBB car, but they were very dirty, so there was no shine from the face. They just looked matte black.
LBB is an awesome M specific color. Sunset O is a wannabe and inferior to Sahkir O. Plus sunset O is on almost every series bmw makes. It not a bad color, but given the environment, it just not going to be that special.

I have been looking around, blue cars are getting popular again. Of course there are so many white, black, silver and even red cars out there that blue is still not very well represented at all. That's is fine with me.

LBB is a special blue. Definitely try to see it in person when it's clean.

Oh, I actually meant that I really like LBB. That is the color I ordered 😁. I meant to say that I'm happy if there are less people with blue or LBB cars. It will just make mine more unique.

Is this actually going to happen at some time? Why are they pushung a new model with the S55 then?

The S58 is supposed to be in the M3 next year with possibly 475 hp. AFAIK the specs haven't been made official. Look at it this way, if the M2 rev. 2 that might come out for the 2022 model year has the S58 it will not have been in production for all that long. The S55 on the other hand as had the bugs worked out of it. I say, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth"

Edit: Another possibility is that the rumored M2 rev. 2 might not even come with the S58. It might come out with a souped up B58 leaving room for a later release of the M2 Comp rev. 2 with the S58??? Who knows?

X3M and X4M will get the S58 first...then G80...then G82...then maybe next gen M2. Could you imagine if next M2 got B58tu...forum meltdown.

Pretty sure the S55's certification deadline isn't that far down the line from the N55's EOL. So I would expect the S58 to be in the M2 by MY2020 or the next gen 2 series at a minimum. BMW has shown they are not afraid to swap motors right out of the car and slap a new badge on it to justify.

MY2020 is not happening. S55 at minimum will be in production until F82 EOP which is Oct 2020.

BMW switches when needed or it is advantageous (re-badgeless changes - E36 M3, Z3M). The Competition model designation change is across the line now and the M5 has the same engine as the non-comp with Competition designation. Sorry to spoil your sour grapes.

S55 meets WLTP requirements now with OPF, so it won't be going out of production for that reason. I'm sure S55 will make it to the end of the F87 lifecycle. S54 was installed in Z4M until 2008 which is 2 model years after the final E46 M3 rolled off the line.
