Dinan can't code out cold start

Hey all. About to pull the trigger on that Dinan m2 tomorrow. I am wondering about the feasibility of disabling the cold start up. My day starts at 530, so I'd really like to keep my wife and neighbors happy. I spoke with Dinan and they said they don't have the ability to code off the cold start sequence. Could I get a flash from somewhere else without effecting the Dinan tune?

Dinan products are *CARB legal and the "cold start" is part of emissions control (to quickly heat up the catalyst).

So no Dinan product would allow you to alter the cold start, even if it was possible.

BTW, great choice and value on that Dinan S2 M2. That's like over 10k in hardware, not even counting labor.

I have just a Dinantronics Stage 1 ECU and the quality and performance is impressive and on par with BMW quality and standards

NEW RELEASE: Dinan Stage 4 Tune, Big Turbo & Dual Core Intercooler https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1336849

Ah that makes sense. Good explanation. I'm not in CA so I'd still like to do the delete if it's a possibility.

AA saved my life with their cold start delete. I am in a townhome commmunity and I would literally vibrate the walls two neighbors down. Unacceptable. Now my wife’s Subaru gets all the attention from her heat shield rattleing on startup.😂

Haha. I remember that same proem last time I owned a WRX. Some r handed snips fixed that pretty quick.

AA? Which tuner is that?

All you need to do is increase the RPMs just ever so slightly after it starts. It will be quiet as can be. Try it out!

This. Just hold revs to 1500 after you start the car. Force shutting the valve(s) with a valve controller helps too.

Coding out the cold start (like with BM3) is quieter than bumping up the RPMs, trust me. It IS quieter than just idling though, for sure. I did the catted downpipe first and struggled to keep it at less-than-obnoxious decibel levels and feel like I didn't really succeed until I disabled the cold start.

Non-MPEs don't have a valve controller on the exhaust, so if you have MPE that obviously adds another variable into the mix.

I know it may not be as effective as a cold start delete but it's a free and easy work around if you don't want to modify the ECU so I was just offering it as an alternative.
