I opted for a deposit of a g87 as I could not find a decent price on last gen. I think once the g87 is out the prices should come down a bit.

Depends on the actual example you buy. Bought my 2018 LCI in Nov 2021 with 30k~ miles at 54k, was without a daily car for like 6 months so I was fed up already. I know I overpaid but it was within budget and also had the options I wanted (DCT, exec pack, MPE exhaust, slick top, wrapped in frozen white, and manfact warranty until Feb 2023.
In the long run I know that the value will hold much better rather than buying something else. Once the warranty runs out I'll think about something else if everything else comes down in price. Hope this helps |

My pandemic price point: 2018 LCI, manual, mineral grey, 11k miles - $42k / 09-2020. Worth it then for sure. I personally would not have paid more than $50k at any time for it.

My first question with regards to worth is always; 'what else could I buy (and would rather have) for the same, or near the same money.'
To that end, I don't know of another car that would suit my needs and that I'd rather have for the money I spent on the M2. If I did, I would have purchased it. Was it worth the $58,000 msrp? Unquestionably. Is it worth $80,000 msrp? Not a chance. But would I pay $80,000 because there is nothing else I'd rather have that's $80k? No. The M2, to me, is a $50-$65k car, in any spec, meaning I wouldn't pay $100K for a CS because I feel like I can get 90% that same experience in a $50K '18 LCI. It's not a CS for sure, but the experience itself is largely the same. So what's the price difference in a used '18 LCI with 10K miles 2 years ago vs today? $10K? $15K? Worth it? Hard to say. I think it's worth it with regards to the rarity, modability, reliability, usability, driving experience, etc, but what something is worth always comes down to your individual feelings about it. |

I feel the same way, pre-COVID. But at the moment it appears to be $55 to $65, which I still think the car is worth (under 10K miles, no mods, excellent condition).

The question is about value, which is a subjective thing for each person. As it relates to PRICE, history tells us that M2 prices will undoubtedly go down in the short term as the pandemic ends, microchip supply chain issues disappear, and the new M2 comes out. But do you value the time with the car now over the potential price decrease? Will you keep the car for long enough so that hopefully prices go up, like they did for the E46 M3? That's up for you to decide.

I bought my 2018 M2 LCI N55 in December at 48k km on the clock, with 2 years warranty.
Car is totally stock. Warranty helps as I've gotten it small little things fixed at no cost. |

these prices of M2s are out of control and they are not going down. This car shortage is not going to get any better for years.
I love my og18 and Its a great car...but Im seeing used versions of these M2s going for what I paid for it brand new. The problem with selling my car for almost having it free for the past 3.5 years is what am I going to replace it with. 22k miles/6mt/white/LCI |

I traded in my 2021 Type R about three weeks ago and picked up a 2018 LCI M2 with about 5300 miles for $57,500.
The car came with about ~$20k+ in M Performance parts and a full front clear bra. |

Here is my data point
I payed $53K plus tax for a '20 M2C hockenheim silver with 8.5K miles on it. The fact that people are paying around this much for an OG M2 tells you the market is inflated. |

Very low mileage, stock/pristine examples are bringing more, but it’s a scatter shot out there. That’s not unique to this market. Guys have been sniping cars for deals while others pay 3-10k more forever. |

For the first couple days I was bummed to no longer have a manual, but that feeling is quickly gone. The Type R is a fun car and definitely a lot more capable than many realize, but the M2 is a completely different monster. It is refined in almost every way. The only thing I think is better in the Type R is the suspension. The M2 is extremely stiff, but it's also sitting on coils with a healthy drop. With that said, I'm barely in my mid-20s and fortunately don't have any back issues so I'll be alright. |

The market is definitely inflated but there is no other car I would consider buying at this time. So selling isn’t a option.
Maybe a G87 CS when it becomes available will tempt me. |

99% of cars are never “worth” their market price. They’re depreciating assets.
The question is more “what’s the driving experience worth to you?” Because that’s what you’re really paying for in a sports car as opposed to a normal car that simply serves as transportation. And the answer is different for every person. I drive 30k miles for a sales job in a normal year- for me having a car that’s comfortable and enjoyable to be in is absolutely worth a premium. Not sure I’d feel that way if it were a garage queen that I drive 2k miles a year. |

I got my 17' M2 with 10k miles in November. Been using it as my daily driver though and the experience is totally worth it.
