New Joiner With One Problem

Season’s greetings all.

Recently purchased a 19 M2C exec. pkg. in LBB with the DCT transmission (to be debated at a later date!).

I am ABSOLUTELY loving this car. Size, fit, finish, handling, and engine are just damn near perfect and exactly what I wanted in a weekend driver. A bit overwhelmed with all the settings at times but a fun process that really makes you learn the car. Also getting familiar with all the coding that can be added.

Kinda cool getting compliments on the car tooling around town in the short time I’ve had it which makes me feel better about the LBB. I was a little on the fence and thought it might be a little over the top/flashy. It didn’t help my wife was busting my balls- “really” with the “you’re a jack-ass” chuckle. Fuk it I love the color. She’s def. coming around particularly after she saw it basking in the sun.

So, my one problem I can not remedy after reading and re-reading the manual and mining the forums is the gear indicator in the digital display. Specifically, when I’m in automatic mode there is no D with 1-6 telling me what gear the car is in. I should be able to see D with gear # and cycle through trans ferocity (1-3). The screen position where P and R pop up is just blank- no D/gear. In S mode I actually see M (1-6). Pics for reference of what I’m NOT seeing in my digital display.

Thinking the previous owner inadvertently coded it out somehow? Complete software flash at dealer required? Any thoughts or wisdom would be tremendous.

Thanks in advance and many thanks for the wealth of knowledge this community has provided so far. Hope to pay it forward and contribute to the forum where I can.

Thread is useless w/ out pics. Yeah, I’ll work on my car shot skills.

B.

Your in sequential mode. Your units of measurement are set to xUS measures, e.g. km, Celsius, etc.

...the two pics of the digital displays are screen captures from youtube- when i was researching what should be showing up in the display. NOT pics from my cluster.

The problem is i have no D1-6 in auto. The "D" is completely blank where the P and R pop up in display.

In seq. mode not a single gear # (1-6) but rather M (1-6).

I was expecting to see the manual images from above post...4 in seq. mode and D + "engaged gear" in drive mode - again completely blank in my cluster.

Sry for not being more clear in OP.

So instead of seeing D1-6 in non-sequential, you see 1-6?

I may suggest including an image showing what doesn't work, instead of trying to show what it should do.

Edit*
There's a post noting that with the M4 GTS tune, they lost gear indicator

Thanks all. And atom the link you provided is spot on:

“On another note - i then flashed the DCT M4 GTS was all OK with no issues - however flashed back to stock as the Gear indicator vanishes whilst in Auto”

Have an appt. next wed. to re-flash. Now I have some intel toward getting this sorted.

What I don't understand is when you're in sequential mode, why does drive mode matter when you're the one shifting?

It's the speed of the shifts not just when it shifts

Your car has been coded out with those options.
Stock system in automatic should be showing D1 through to D7.
In Sequencial/Manual mode. It should only show the number the current gear and the recommended gear if you're driving in efficient mode in a smaller font.

There has been numerous owners voicing their complaints regarding the gear suggestion while in manual. I suspect this is why it has been coded out.

I drive exclusively DCT Manual, I've learn to put up with the recommended gear indicator due to me not wanting to give dealership any excuses if a problem crops up.

Update: Inst. cluster gear display in D and S sorted.

Thanks for the lead above atom! Exactly what the issue was- car was carrying a euro spec version of the m4 gts tune. FWIW- the car is less twitchy in a good way. noting the gts tune did not have the 50 bhp bump. I will say I did notice the steering w/ the gts tune was a bit more precise & tighter in all modes. Tech mentioned most of the gts tune relates to recode of trans. and rear diff. attributes. I would go back to this tune assuming gear indicator display was worked out- tech is researching other versions of gts tune.

Car returned stock and then coded in the normal upgrades: comfort access, mirrors, video in motion, auto start/stop default off, lawyer screen off, euro flash brake force, etc.

Highly recommend German motor werks here in Nashville. They just moved into a new and impressive location. I was also impressed their techs were able to network with other coders to the point where a coder actually remoted in to reflash a module with the most up to date map.

Happy holidays.
