Hi All,

I've noticed a problem (albeit small) with what's been a great first 6 months with the car.

If the cars stop/start engages, then I drop the clutch, put in to gear but don't immediately start lifting my foot off the clutch - the car seems to drop revs and then stall. It immediately starts the engine again but it's really strange, threw me off at first but now I can replicate the issue on demand. Usually happens at traffic lights if I don't move off immediately after dropping the clutch in stop/start. Maybe easier to film the issue rather than try and explain!

Obviously I can just disable stop/start but that's not the point. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something I'm doing wrong??

I think a more detailed explanation is needed.

Sorry, it's a hard one to explain. I'll replicate it on the drive and film it.

Could it be that its starting up when you clutch in, but then since you're not actually moving it thinks "Oh, we're just sitting here, better turn the engine off again?"

I've never had an issue with the start stop, but when I use it, I clutch in to go while shifting into first, the engine starts and then i immediately start release the clutch. (and then it works fine)

Seems like the easier solution, lol. I personally refuse to use it. The system is an annoyance and can be dangerous if you're trying to merge onto a highway or busy intersection.

Yeah exactly right, it's probably user education more than anything. My E39 never had anything as fancy as auto stop/start!

It sounds like car is trying to turn itself off, the stop part in auto start/stop.

I get that, but it does it when the clutch pedal is depressed? The stop part of auto stop start usually only kicks in when the car is in neutral and the clutch pedal is not depressed.

I have never enabled auto start/stop in my M2c. Been a 1+ year of ownership already.

I would disable it and leave it off. It does more harm to the vehicle than good.

Thanks, yeah that seems to be the consensus! Is there a way to have it disabled permanently? Assume it has to be coded like the rev matching...

I can kind of understand the Auto/Stop-Start feature on DCT spec'ed M2C's. With heavy emphasis on "kind of", because IMO, this sort of feature does not belong on a performance car.

Why I have that feature on my MT spec'ed M2C though......is beyond me.

First time I drove it with it on (I didn't realize I even had it on), it also threw me off, because I thought I stalled the engine.

Use BimmerCode to set it to "Remember last state" ie: when u turn it off it stays off for every start.

Since day 1 I have it disabled and my starter motor and battery thanks me for it.

I saw a video of your vehicle with those loud gun shot burbles.

Better you do leave the auto start/stop off in this climate before other motorist assume it a mass-shooter on the loose, upon every restart..

I thought US cars already have it as "remember last state" from the factory? So turn it off and stays off....

EU needs coding to enable this.

Ah sorry, couldn't see your location on the phone app...

Are you depressing the clutch fully? ASS works via the clutch pedal sensor.
