CEL on Day 2 of Ownership

Anyone get CEL issues early on in ownership? I turned my car on for the 3rd time since I drove it off the lot and this evening received a CEL. I let the engine warm up, turned it off, walked out, locked my door, then tried again, but same issue.

Most of the time a CEL is caused by a loose or missing gas cap. Check to see if your gas cap is looose.

Time to break out the OBD 2 reader...

I had my parking sensors go out on day 2 of ownership, but no CEL in 6000 miles.

Seems m2c has more issues than m2.

I did...CEL before the first service and it went away by itself.

Went to the dealership and they saw a misfire in one of the cylinder, said could either be a software glitch or hardware related.

I don't care...if there is a fault in the engine they can replace it

CEL never came back on and now the engine is running real strong

Yes, I ended up checking the gas cap, was tightly on when checked.

Went to the dealer this morning, and they automatically put me in a loaner car and couldn't give me an estimate on how long the check will take...

I wouldn't sweat it, you have a warranty.

Same thing happened to me on my previous new BMW and it turned out to be a loose vacuum hose. Car was super reliable for the rest of the time I owned it.

Just an FYI, but the gas cap CEL doesn't clear itself instantly. It takes a few start/stop cycles to clear out.
