I know there is a CDV delete discussion in the general M2 sub forum that hasn't been pinged in a while, but also have noticed that some M2C owners have discussed the possibility of a CDV delete to add to their UCP and AS SSK set up and the difficulty of it being located in the slave cylinder.
Came across this thread below on the F30 forums (figure most people are searching on the M2 forum and don't come across this thread since it's in the F30 one) that some may be aware of, that may be helpful here for those guys looking to get rid of the vague and ever changing engagement point they are feeling after the UCP install (I know I am). It looks like it is a direct replacement for our slave cylinder (effectively removing the CDV/restriction). I went ahead and purchased the part number in the thread and will have my shop install it while they are installing the AS SSK next week. Can keep everyone updated once installed. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1666477

Right on! My AS SSK will be here on Friday with install next week as well and have been researching this exact same thing. I am doing exactly what you are doing!

Small world! Looks like Ronald sent me mine when he sent yours (same batch). I went with 20% reduction, stock height, and 80a bushings. You?

I'm also thinking it would be nice to replace the stock clutch line (Part # 21526869276) with something better AFAIK, there are no aftermarket options available (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) Anyhow, I noticed Rogue Engineering offers stainless steel replacement lines for other models https://www.rogueengineering.com/Rog...ine_p_134.html I'm thinking of contacting them to see if they might be able to make one for our cars In any case, if anyone knows of another supplier who might be able to assist me with having a high quality stainless steel replacement made please let me know |

+1 Doing the CDV delete as soon as the road salt is gone. Can't wait to feel the difference.

Wow, glad I found this thread. One of the first things I did to my previous Golf R was to remove the CDV. Made world of difference. Didn't know this was a thing on BMWs.

Ok-- for the stupid people in the room.
I did this on my e46 M3 with the old Zeckenhausen "CDV blank" trick. I've got both a 2020 M2C on order, and a bunch of pieces parts (car cover, floor mats, etc.) Is this something that works/needs to be deleted with the 2020 M2C? Most of the posts reference a different body style or OG/LCI. I looked on the TIS, and it seems that this "non-pinhole" part number (21526785964) would replace 21526795713 (part # 16 below)? I can add the part to a current order if it is, and throw it in a drawer until I get around to the AS SSK after the 1200 mile service (I'm leery of letting dealers see my hand.) TIA-- R. For the price here, completely worth giving it a shot. I got the part from ECS.

I was able to change out the CDV myself on my '14 128i bc it was an external unit with easy access, but this procedure is quite a bit more involved on the M2C given it's location and integration into the slave cylinder. Mine is getting done by my tune shop next week when I have the lower heat shields off for installation of my AS SSK. Can't wait! |

I got the exact same build, bushings and all! Install date is set for 1/13. CDV delete hybrid replacements parts ordered to kill 2 birds with one stone during the install. I also bought the M-performance knob with blue stitching on the boot from IND. My intention with ordering the stock height shifter lever was that the total height would be lowered by about 1 cm compared to stock when using in conjunction with the MP knob. We'll see how it goes...

The guy in the original post link also replaced his hard line, but that was seemingly bc he thought it was the source of his fluid leak. From what I can tell, it should just be the slave cylinder to replace. I actually sent the link to my mechanic who is ordering the PART for me |

Ok, an update. Just had my AS SSK installed (20% reduction, 80a bushings, and stock height) with the new slave cylinder and wanted to share some very quick initial impressions. Overall, the clickity-clack nature of the SSK is absolutely true. Feels so mechanical that it honestly caught be by surprised and it took some driving to get used to the new precise feel vs the numb sloppiness of before. It is a little more noisy when just driving (vs the obvious noise while shifting). It's like a low whirring, but my mechanic noted that the SSK parts don't have all the rubber cupping and dampener pieces that the OG shifter had, so you are going to hear more of the engine/transmission noise come through the boot into the cabin. It's not bad or a downside just going to take time to get used to actually hearing some mechanical pieces working.
As to the Slave Cylinder CDV solution, I was super skeptical and honestly cannot believed it worked. Mind you, only took it for a short drive, but the engagement point is identical (it seems to me) in every gear. In fact, it's so precise where it engages that I found myself having to relearn how to drive manual because my muscle memory was building in delays from before.

Hey, Thanks a lot for your feedback! Could you please expand a little on what you meant exactly when you said you had to 're-learn how to drive a manual'? Is there a drastic difference in MO from post and pre CDV? |

Not a drastic difference, more that my muscle memory had adjusted to expecting the engagement point higher or lower in the pedal throw depending on the shift (1-2 vs 2-3 vs 3-4, etc.). So for example I was making a shift after a turn from 2-3 and I let out fast at the bottom and slow at the top like I normally would with the CDV because the engagement point on that shift is usually high, only to be shocked that the engagement point came earlier then expected, right around where 1-2 normally is.
My comment was more of an exaggeration. I'm not learning how to drive manual overall, just relearning how to drive manual on this car.

Update: starting to really like the whirring sound. Almost sounds like those insanely loud straight cut gears on race cars but at 1/50th of the volume.

In regards to the CDV delete, how much of a difference would you say it made? Let's say the AS SSK is an 8 (1-10). Also, do you have the UCP? What shop did your CDV delete? |

So for improvement over stock (completely subjective and assuming stock was around 4-5/10ths of perfect for me) I'd rate the manual mods as follows: AS SSK - 8.5/10 UCP (with two washers removed from clutch stop, center position, still both springs) - 6/10 pre-CDV delete, 7.5/10 post-CDV delete (May have to play around with the springs) CDV Delete - 9/10

I'd agree that if the SSK is an 8.5, the UCP is about a 6. WOW! I think I'm going to have to do this!! |
