BMW M2 sunroof option

You can make a sticky if you want for people who wish to have a sunroof as a option, not standard on the BMW M2, meaning it would be an extra cost to current configuration. How many out there want a sunroof option as an option. I have went thru all channels w/o any luck, BMWNA says they want it to be a purist car by not adding the sunroof.

The USA is now the only country not offering a sunroof as an option, Canada who did not offer it is in 2016, now offers it for 2017. Export is out of the question, too much hazzle.

If enough people want a sunroof as an option, call BMWNA (1-800-831-1117, ask for customer service), maybe our voices will be heard, give it a try, cant hurt, maybe it will make it mid-year 2017 or have to wait for 2018-2020 model years

Also assume you are not planning on buying a 2nd for as a track car after your current M2. Why do some who may never buy a second one so opposed to a sunroof as an option? Do you really care if your neighbor buys one with a sunroof, give specific reasons other than economics because this is not going to be as rare as the 1M? If you paid his bills you might but to each is own. No one should dictate what other want, do or purchase IMO.

I wouldn't get it with a sunroof but I could care less if its an option for those that do. It's too late for 2017 models but maybe you'll get it for 2018.

Not sure posting personal contact info for individual executives is the right thing to do here. They have team members who listen to the market through consumer research and surveys, customer support channels, dealership networks and much more.

BMW North America has an excellent Customer Relations team with contact information here: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/ContactUs/

I'd suggest using it, where your voice will be heard in aggregate with other people asking for the same option, rather than individually whining to the BMW NA CEO on a holiday weekend. He's a person just like you and me with better things to do today.

Perhaps you should purchase the M2 today and enjoy it. Then in the future if they offer a sunroof sell the non sunroof and buy the other.

You never know when that switch may change and then it will be too late for either.

Why are you glad it's not an option for those who want one? Also, it is offered in most markets.

Because when I pick another one up used for track duty in a few years I won't have to sift through people who ordered the wrong transmission _and_ the wrong roof.

Many reasons.

- I am 6'1" and the sunroof decreases headroom height.
- My other vehicles have sunroofs and maybe I open them once a year if that.
- especially on a performance oriented car that is geared and marketed for performance driving less weight the better on this type of car.

X5m, M6, M5. Sure put a sunroof in those cars, but the smallest M car that BMW makes please keep it out!

I know I'm the minority maybe on this forum. I just ordered an M2 last week without the Executive Package. The less moving parts, gizmos, beeping noises, lane warnings, etc that take away from the pure driving experience the better on the M2 for me!

I don't think his question was why *you* don't want one. But why you would not want the option available to people who do want one?

We have the option in Canada and I find it absolutely mind blowing you can't get it in the US

If you really want a sunroof, maybe have a Canadian buy a car for you here and import...that could be an option.

Totally agree with this, it makes no sense that they are building them in the same place and the small volumes they are making for Canada compared to the USA they are adding sunroofs for 2017. Other than gauges there must be almost no difference between a Canadian and American version of the M2.

My opinion I like the sunroof even if I don't open it. Makes the inside feel bigger and brighter and I like the view... the performance the purists refer to would not be felt or noticed by 99.99% of people so for $1500 I will take a sunroof.

I know this won´t help, but anybody making that call could mention that in Mexico sunroof (as dct) is a NO COST OPTION.

There is a place in Atlanta that installs custom sunroofs. It actually looks and works well, with no leaks. The dealer had it installed in my last car, and I drove it for two years with no problems. What I didn't like about it was, it made creaking noises, going up and down my driveway, which is on a hill. I never got that on my E36 m3, which had a factory sunroof. I would love a sunroof on a M2 but could live without it since I like the car so much, and I wouldn't add one if not available from the factory.

It would be nice if it were an option. It's just ones of those unnecessary things IMO that some of consumers - who want a sunroof - must deal with. You can order a Porsche 911 with a sunroof in the U.S. and I'm quite certain a lot of purists purchase that car.

Anyway, it will be a year at a minimum before I can even get an M2 so, I'm not sure I should even worry about it.

In MY2016 8 North American M2 vehicles had option 403 sunroof. The first 7 were all preproduction individual vehicles, within the first 30 produced.

There is one vehicle WBS1H9C53GV786116, LBB DCT, produced 5/12/2016 with a sunroof! It is not an individual. Not sure how that car got built but it would be a rare one? Anyone wish to claim ownership?

Also so far, NA MY2017 as of 7.7.2016, only 1 canadian vehicle with sunroof has a VIN number assigned in the system but is still awaiting completion.

Save money. But honestly I was stretching to try to answer that guy's question about why you wouldn't want other people to have sunroof. I don't really care. Just was only reason I could come up with for not wanting the option available on the car period.
