Go aftermarket?

These seem decent. How difficult can it be to do yourself?

Yes, thats the site I grab the part numbers for. I'd like to know if its an easy swap out tor retrofit option and how expensive it will be.

All 4 belts come in quote expensive £585 (£265 option from factory) and then there is labour.

Changing out the belts is one of the easiest things your can do. I would say do it yourself. I bet the whole job is less than 2 hours if you take your time. Removing the trim is the only hard thing - While you have it off your can bypass your ASD.

It took a professional body shop 4 hours just to do my fronts. A lot of trim has to come off.

They sound "Professional"! Although it is always better to take your time.

Here is a set on ebay.

M2 has four striped belts too. Is that the same as M3/M4?

Dealer has suggested they can do it pre delivery. Haven't a complete price yet though.

You have to remove and reinstall the rear seat bottom, rear seat side bolsters, rear quarter interior panels, all the weather stripping, sill plates and B pillar covers, disconnect the battery, install the belts, reconnect the battery and reset the airbag fault codes.

Personally, I don't consider that "one of the easiest things you can do". Also wasn't a 2 hour job.

Not trying to be argumentative, just saying i've had a belt swap done already and after seeing what had to be done, it isn't what I would consider quick or easy.

I ordered the belts today so will let you know how long it actually takes me. I have replaced the seatbelts on 3 MINI's and my mates F82. I have upgraded the stereo on every car I have had. BMW's are a bit of a pain but removing the back seats and plastic panels is not brain surgery. I'll have to pull all those panels anyway to add trunk insulation and adding new amps and wiring, This stuff always seems more scary than it actually is.
I will do a write up for the forum so others can enjoy working on their M2's too!

They’re doing you a favor, this thing has too many M designations on it already. Anyone within a hundred mile radius can figure out that you’re driving an M car.

Andrewc89 - just out of interest Sassicaia did a write-up for doing the above in his M4. Was quoted 2 1/2 hours by his dealer and did it himself in an hour....... he had not really worked on cars before....

The rears are 130 euros each and the fronts around 180 euros each.

Around $750 including shipping. they remove the taxes. Fronts are the same as the M4 backs are model specific.

No. Cancelled the order. Bought a better than stock intercooler and am working on a big turbo. It has become all about driving for me and honestly I like the non "boy racer" interior. If I need a change I will pull the stock belts and have my upholstery shop stitch the edges. That costs $200!

The euro belt tensioner will not work in the U.S cars. If you do buy euro spec belts then the webbing will need to be transferred to your factory U.S tensioner.

Is it easy to transfer webbing from one seat belt real to the other?
