I got it used from an M4 guy in Toronto. It’s actually the AP Factory kit with the larger 378x36mm disc.

I wouldn’t be too worried about going with the Pro 5000R kit from Essex. You can add the anti rattle clips. Theirs do not have dust boots, but they rebuild the calipers for cheap if needed.

Sorry for thread jacking, everyone. Just wanted to give my experience.

Picked up production prototypes today. Installed without TOO many hitches.

I stripped one of the retaining screws in front and spent about 1.5 hours drilling it out.

Otherwise they fit perfect and are great quality.

Nice. When are you hitting the track next and what track pads are you running?

Tomorrow at Pacific. Hence the trip to Bellingham! Well, that and a Structures can release

Threw on the XP20 to bed the rotors and save some time. Typically use those on track and 1521 for street.

Very interested on how they'll perform on track.

But how come your calipers still are blue? Haven't you tracked the car with the OEM brakes?

It is interesting, not sure what the magic number is but a buddy and I run very similar lap times we run together in the same group both have M2, same Cup 2 tires and same Pagid brake pads, the last weekend we ran his turned dark green almost black and mine are still blue. I am sure its a matter of time for mine but 8 pretty hard track days and they are still blue for me. I am sure he is generating more brake temp then me but I am not sure how much more.

Sure have.

Never had issues with discoloration on previous cars, either. Religious about cool down laps and it's never insanely hot here in the PNW to begin with.

Hey everyone,
I've found out after 1 trackday that my front discs had a 0,1cm warp.

So now I'm replacing them but I want to keep the original caliper.
Would someone know what's the biggest rotor I can put in?

Brembo sells only 380x34 and APRacing 380x34/380x32/380x28.

Would a 32mm thickness fit the original calipers?

They should be available. My "Prototypes" were pretty nice looking, including the finish on the hats. Obviously I haven't followed up since I have them, but worth a shot shooting them an email.

How did you wrapped the discs?

Warped.

First trackday I did.. I believe it was a combination of not the best braking technique, which led to really hot brakes and discs and fadigue, and also periods of light rain hitting the extremely hot discs.

I am sure that it was after that day that the car started to vibrate like hell when brakes become warm/hot. And, I measured one of the front discs which had 0,1cm warp.

Now, I'm interested in changing to something that will give me better performance.
I'm yet to understand what are the sizes that one can fit.

Were you using OEM brake pads? If yes, your rotors are not warped. They've just accumulated an uneven coating of brake of material. There is a cure for this short of replacing them. Ask me how I know!

Did you use track pads or OEM? Haven't heard of warping being an issue but some guys who have used OEM pads have damaged their rotors because the OEM pads will leave a residue that acts like a warp and ruins the rotor.

I have 12 days on track with my M2 and a buddy as double that, they hold up just fine to track work if you do the proper prep. My bet is this guy used OEM pads which is not compatible with track braking temps.

Make sense, so pagid and oil should do the trick? What about moding a duct intake for the brakes?

Yes, both OEM pads and rotors.
Well, I believe it's a true warp since the mechanic used a machine to measure the "bend".

If it would be a coating there would be noticeable material on the top of the discs I believe?
Also I did a few more hundred Km since then and there's no big improvement.

Anyway, what is that cure?

Running race pads cold, their more aggressive material wear the deposit off.

Zero chance that you can "warp" these rotors with the OEM pads on track. Not possible, you have transfer of the brake material. Next time prep the car properly with track pads, and proper medium viscosity brake fluid that has a high boiling point. Both will result in far better track performance that is safer and will not result in this problem. I have brought my rotors to well over 600 degrees F every session and after more than a dozen days on track not a problem. It is important to note that track pads are not desirable for day to day driving so most of use swap pads before the weekend.

Best of luck
