Sure maybe today's, but a B7? Doubtful that anyone would say it drives better than an E92 M3 or even a C63 AMG

Sometimes looking beyond brand loyalty and tribalism can be rewarding I mean, look at this video, its 100% a car that has character |

Mercedes: the German muscle car. Sounded amazing. Very fast in a straight line. Relatively comfortable. Bmw: the precision track car. Not as fast, looked perfect, also a great sound. Optional manual. A true drivers car. Audi: the perfect mix of the two. It had the character of both whilst sacrificing the highest excitement of the two. was fast but not as fast as the c63. Was precise but not as precise as the M3. And had AWD for those who needed it. The 3 cars really did make you scratch your head on which to buy. It makes me sad because today, they're all the same. Assuming the m3 and c63 go AWD and auto only will be really unfortunate, as nothing really sets them apart beyond brand loyalty and styling. Edit: that video is awesome. NOTHING IMO beats a raw NA engine with a 6 speed manual. I'd take slow and engaging of fast and fully auto any day |

I think this is an aspect a lot of people tend to ignore, you don't need a lot of power and the latest car to really gain a memorable driving experience.
There's so many different combinations and variations of cars available on the market and the newest one's are far from being the best thing you can get. There's a countless number of amazing cars produced between 00-15', fishing in that bowl can lead to a lot of fun imho. Downgrade in power isn't a huge problem as long as the car puts a smile on your face! |

The only real problem with modern Audi’s is the chronic understeer. Driving characteristics don’t come close to M cars based on my experience with RS5.
Even with the active rear diff understeer is clearly present at the limit. Up to 8/10 all is well, but when you really reach for the limit you’re smothered with disappointment. I do love the Audi power train though, and the virtual cockpit is next level stuff. |

I wouldn't buy an Audi to push the car to its limits though, more like a hardcore daily driver Four doors, NA V8, pretty good feel on the manual (as per the reviews) At the end of the day, how often do people really push their car to the very limit? Do it consistently on a 100hp Miata and you barely go over legal speeds. Do it on a M2C and it's a whole different story.

Gen V Viper. Been into Vipers for as long as I can possibly remember, and the Gen V are drop dead gorgeous. They're not TOO much more than the M2. Id' like to snag one before kids start becoming a part of the picture.
991.2 GT3. This is super super end goal for me, but not entirely necessary. I like it for the sound it makes, and the Porsche build quality. Doesn't get my heart racing like the Viper, but still an awesome car. Driven one on track, and that made me want one even more. |

Honestly I'm pretty happy with this car. I've had it for about 14 months now and it still puts a smile on my face.
I actually don't drive it as much as I'd like, its sitting around ~4600 miles atm. I normally ride my bike into the office which is ~4 miles away lmao. This is my weekend fun car and everytime I get in, I have a smile on my face. If my crappy Xterra craps out on me then I may consider an X5 for the fam but right now I don't need/want another vehicle. This car ticks all the boxes: - 2 seater - sunroof - 6MT with 400+ HP - RWD - Solid torque down low - Impressive handling - BMW - Compact in length/width. The last note is big for me, I was strongly considering the F80 but I could barely fit the car in my old garage lengthwise. My new garage is longer but I'm just not into driving a long/big car. |

Have some experience with the RS4. It’s a great car and would argue it has more character than the E92 if only for the uniqueness. Paired with a AWE exhaust it sounds amazing. Better love maintenance though, it’s the only motor that I know that pretty much requires walnut blasting every 20-30k because of carbon deposits. Never heard of a motor that manages build up so quickly.
On a quirkier note. There is a sport button in the RS4. In all the years, never was able to figure out what it did. Literally felt no different with it on vs off. |

M2C is uncomparable to most of cars listed.
I wanted a cocktail suit with a superman undershirt and I'm happy with my m2c. A cayman gt4 to show off in case. |

The experience is like going to a very fine restaurant with exceptional service, then being served dry white toast. If you like dry white toast then that's great. No judgement. |

If you can find a well maintained B7 RS4, that would be a great choice. Not the fastest, but the V8 is so silky sexy sounding. Clutch feel is great, shifter isn't bad, better feeling than my M2C IMO.
Hard to find a good one, and prices aren't too astronomical for a low mileage. Was always hard for me to find one in my neck of the woods, with good documented history. I'm always on the lookout for one. That V8..... |

I want a red 1970 Chevelle SS with an LS6 and Muncie 4 speed. Or a green 1969 Camaro Z/28 DZ302 with he cross-ram 4-barrel Holleys...and Muncie 4 speed.

Granted I haven't looked too much into repair and maintenance, I don't really feel like Audi has the same online maintenance and DIY presence as BMW. With BMW you can quite easily get a cheap E46 M3 and repair the entire engine by yourself by just buying the right tools and following YouTube guides. If the Audi RS4 B7 had the same online information as most BMW's it would make for a great project car, especially if you manage to make it reliable. Would I replace my M2C for an old unreliable B7 RS4? Probably not. But if you just find that perfect deal and somehow find a very good shop you can trust, it might just be worth it. |
