Experience with Summit Point Track?

Anyone have any experience with summit point? I'm interested in getting my toes wet with tracking my car

I've got about 20 weekends worth of experience there. Been on all three tracks and have been there with multiple organizations (primarily BMW CCA).

I should be able to help out with any questions you have.

I've been to a private track day last year there and have another coming up next month, both on the main circuit.

How do you know what days are open? I'm looking at the calendar but having trouble deciphering it. And how much does it cost?

Their calendar will show which organization is renting each of the three tracks each day. Each organization is going to have different pricing and you would need to register either through that organization's website or through https://www.motorsportreg.com/ which is used by many groups.

I would expect to pay $200-250 per day. Most groups give a small discount if you register for both days.

There are a few programs run directly by Summit Point (Friday at the Track, My Seat Time, and Open Practice) but you would need to start off in the novice program first before they let you register for all of them.

Thanks for the write up! I have a ton of research to do before I get on the track

Awesome, you will have a great time. Is that the July event with the New Jersey chapter? I'm not sure if I will be able to make that one but I will be at the June and September events with NCC.

I'll be at the June NCC one! Got my months mixed up. Still waiting to be confirmed for the event though. I might try to make the sept one too but I'm getting married 2 weeks after so that will be a tough sell lol

Don't worry about the confirmation, you will get in since you are registered early on. Everyone that is confirmed right now are instructors, in the instructor academy, or in the advanced run groups.

Confirmations for the novice and intermediate run groups are typically done a couple of weeks before the event after they see how many people have registered and get their placement within those groups figured out.

My track car is gray 2003 330Ci with #37 on it. Stop by if you see me and I will keep a lookout for your M2.

Sounds good! I'll definitely stop by and say hello if I spot you. Thanks again for all the info!

This is great info, but I would also recommend track insurance. It definitely adds to the cost, but, for me, it's worth it. When I've been on the track without insurance, I am too worried about wrecking. Really takes away from the enjoyment factor and makes me feel like I can't really push the car. YMMV. I also have friends who go without insurance and are totally happy.

Definitely getting trackday insurance, first time on the track I'd rather play it safe haha. I'm going with lockton since they offer discounts to BMW cca members

I ran their FATT Friday at the Track a few times with a previous car. Looking forward to picking up an M2 and getting back out there.
