Reduced Fuel milage

Took my car in for the 10K service back in Nov. Prior to service I was averaging 24 mpg. After service averaging 21.5 mpg. Tire psi the same and all other variables (as much as feasible are the same) Apart from colder temps I can't figure out why its so much worse.

Maybe they used a heavier weight oil during the oil change but that shouldn't make such a drastic difference.

Thoughts from others?....

I have never seen my show over 18mpg.. right now my average is 17.2mpg in dash LoL. Mine is 6spd and always in sport plus/MDM. I guess it all comes how you are driving it.
They don't do much other than oil change at 10k, so it should not do any different. Maybe you are driving it more spirited

How are you calculating your mpg? The only meaningful calculation is to divide your miles driven between fill ups with the amount of gas filled. Don't depend on the onboard computer.

The colder temps have definitely affected the MPG of my car by about 2 MPG. It’s something I’ve noticed the last few years that I’ve had mine. I commute 40 miles to work with 30 of those on the freeway.

If using the computer readout then keep in mind that's lifetime average.

Wait, you guys are getting double digits??

I do agree with some of the posters above that measuring fuel and miles driven at the pump is the way to go. Using that method I’m getting about 12-15 mpg. In fairness to the car. My commute is all city, in stop and go, and about 35 mph. Good times.

You get up to 35? Ha. For 4 months I shifted into second gear… a hand full of times during my 18mi commute. Took 1.5 hours each way.
Then Covid hit. Again. Now I’m down to 1 hour.

My commute is short, but i always take the longer way. And I've never crossed 17mpg during regular daily driving
