All bark and no bite.

Style over substance. Is it me or is there something wrong about being called a BMW Performance Exhaust when is does not generate any more power or performance (other than noise)?

MPE option on the my2017

Not sure why the car garage reviewer of the M Performance exhaust said it 4K...For the my2017, it is an option which cost 3500 Canadian....I have to wait for my to really comment on it....

Been having the same thing in my F80 with the performance exhaust. Sounds like if someone uses a really crappy cheap subwoofer system ... once you push the gas it should stop though.

Exhaust rattle

I am looking for a replacement for my current car and drove the M2 yesterday at a dealership. Everything was great except the rattle on acceleration - happened in all gears. Sounds like the descriptions on this thread, but it did not go away, nor did it get less loud. Car was cold, but drove it reasonably long enough for the rattle sound to go away (if in fact it was supposed to). I love the sound at idle, but underway is a different story. Does anyone here think the issue is design vs peculiarity? It was really bad.

Did that car have the MPE (M Performance Exhaust) or was it stock?

I do hear an occasional rattle in my stock exhaust and... I have to say, I think the stock exhaust is perfect.

I had the MPE installed 2 weeks ago and I'm happy with the results I don't even turn on the radio. Any benefits to adding the fabspeed sportcat to the system or could anyone share their experiences ? CEL in the long run?

Ok, I don't mean this in a mean way but this just happened...

Was watching this video and my son heard me watching/listening to the video and said "Is that your car?" I said "No, son, it is a sport exhaust I didn't get" he says "Oh, I thought it was a lawn mower".

Like I said... to all the MPE owners... no offense and... after hearing the startup sound on the MPE, I was sold on stock.

If it is the same noise I had, than it came from the exhaust tips and not from the exhaust itself. I had it to, especially in cold start. After checking the screws below the tips (Torx) and really thighten them up after a drive (warm exhaust), all rattle is gone. So one could say it is just an issue with the installation and no general design flaw.

I am happy with mine.

Hi Doug - the M2 I drove had the MPE. Would be nice if the rattle is from the exhaust tips and not something internal, as someone suggested.

Wow I didn't know it was that bad either. Looks like the dynamics guys at BMW didn't do a good job here.
