Does anyone have a preferred transport carrier

For a shipment from RI to VA?

Bought a used car for my daughter up there and having a heck of a time getting it shipped.

Seems like the game is entirely run by half-a$$ broker firms that won't guarantee anything or commit to timing and even then I still can't get a pickup.

Currently have an order out thru Montway for an enclosed transport and it's been 24hrs with no carrier taking the broker up on the deal.

So frustrating.

I've heard bad things about Montway...

I've personally used RunBuggy and RoadRunner for my M cars and never had a problem!

we used MBA Logistics to ship my son's car from DC area to san diego. no issues at all and very good communications throughout the trip. we asked them to deliver within a 5 day window while we would be there in san diego with my son to receive the car...and they delivered on the second day of the window!

note: this was my first and only experience shipping a car. i found out that it's fairly common for dates to slip and shift by a couple of days. while we'd like to think it's an exact science, the shippers are often dealing with constraints beyond their control. their comms around those slips and shifts is important to make sure you're comfortable with the operation.

So I got the car late last night.

The only problem with the whole thing was the driver initially said 10am Saturday for arrival, but had problem after problem. Brakes on his truck, traffic in NYC, DC. So he didn't arrive until 1am that night. Kinda shot my whole day.

I feel like in retrospect, the covered transport was worth the extra money - car arrived in great shape.

I think it was $350 extra for the covered carrier. My mini rode shotgun with a new G-wagon. Pretty swanky.

Tipped the guy $150. Not sure what the going rate was, but felt fair for a dude driving thru the night thru NoVa traffic.
