Vandalism!! Am I the only M owner CONSTANTLY getting vandalized?? I’ve been keyed, hood punched and dented and door dents that damage vinyl wrap all within 12 months of living in Italy. Is this a US thing too that I should be prepared for it when I get back to the states, or just some jealous Italians!?

It’s the weirdest thing, I swear. 99% of people here love and comment and ask me to rev the car. Then there’s this handful of scum baskets who are peanut butter and jealous. Who intentionally damages someone’s belongings? They’re among us, clearly. Animals. I’m worried I’ll catch someone one day, because I would probably end up in jail for denting their eye socket.

This is why it should be legal to set up a shotgun trap. Good luck OP, it's mostly about where you park, just try to find an area that's well lit but not too crowded. Oh, and a dashcam with parking mode, so at least you can get their faces and upload them to the hall of shame forever and send it to the cops

In Europe, especially Southern Europe, there is a lot of jealousy about nice cars and BMW drivers gave a bad reputation. There are few cars that are parked on the street that don't get keyed eventually. They also love to parallel park by bouncing off other car's bumpers. This is of course a generalization but compared to the US it is true.

HA! YES! Some focker did that bouncing off my bumper shit, too! Saw them walking back to my car, and was stunned. They weren't even looking, just waiting for the impact. Luckily they were in a smart car or something and it didn't do anything.

Real-talk, again...road ethics here in general are out of control. I had to google it when I first got here because the mentality of Italians once they shut their car door is...lets just say...well...do you get mad at a toddler when he shits his pants? No. You just pity them and help where you can. lol.

I take Uber IF I ever have to frequent an area without proper parking

Without proper garage access, I’d be driving a different daily, or I’d have to somehow relocate

This is exactly why I drove sh1tboxes when I was stationed overseas. Door and bumper love taps are accepted practice…I guess due to tighter parking spots, then you have gypsies who break in..which is some sort of accepted behavior….then regular hood rat kids or whatever who like to steal vandalize etc.

NYC boroughs and metro area definitely. Rite of passage. New car, open season to initiate your car. The more desirable, the more incentive for them to destroy what you worked hard for.

That’s the thing, it’s everywhere. Some places in Spain, you’d have guys walking around vehicles and you’d give them money to ensure they didn’t break in while you were away, especially for a couple hours. You didn’t have to pay, but the potential damage to your vehicle or stolen contents would be worse. The problem was also, even if you didn’t have anything in your car, they would forcibly break in just to make sure. They don’t use wireless means or a Jimmy bar to get in either…it’s smashed glass or prying the door open. Maybe that’s changed but that’s what I saw all the time.

People had bars on their windows to prevent break ins. One day I’m in my kitchen and I see an arm reaching in to steal my salt shaker, until I smacked them with a broom handle lol.
