Sorry this happened & you're catching shit for it. I had a tire repaired by an independent shop & my car never left my sight. I even watched the mechanic do the repair. I was like

wow that really sucks. It's really great that you had the data to show for it. In fact, I think you've just convinced me to purchase this product.

A 0-60 time of 9.44 seconds (0.3g) means that, at MOST, he used 46% of the available acceleration.
Stop being a spoilt brat and get over it. You should most certainly not get anyone fired. |

Im pretty sure 95% of people on these forums wouldn't feel comfortable about what happened. Not sure where some of these comments are coming from. Whether the person driving it was 18 or 45 and whether it was half throttle or full out gunning it, isn't really relevant. Were all attached to our cars one way or another, this wasn't cool.

The OP has every right to be upset. The negative responses, name callng, etc. are ridiculous.

Indeed, I would have preferred that the car be driven on I278 to get the car up to 60 mph to double check for out of balance/vibration issues. Reasonable minds may differ, but if I'm picking up a car after service I don't want to get out on the highway and find a problem on the way home. If someone can explain how the data obtained from the test drive in this case constituted abuse it would be appreciated, but it doesn't look like it was to me.

If it was the dealer I would probably be okay with it. An 18-20 something year old kid driving a new M car, not so much. |

It's your right to feel the way you do. I might just have to pick up that app. Thanks again. |

This is completely wrong. I would be mad as hell, that's why I make sure to write no test drives on the worksheet. If any drive is required I go with them.
I would also give a bad review online, this is their fault and probably they do this with all sports cars. Make sure you check your wheels properly for any damage. I guess now you know what to do next time Enjoy your winter tires |

This is a car forum so I'm pretty shocked that I'm being called names and that I'm overreacting for someone taking my car out without permission and driving it in an aggressive manner.
Is it a huge deal? No but it was enough to piss me off and stop doing business with that shop. It was All Tire & Service on Rhine Ave on Staten Island. For those that are unconcerned with the stats of the app, you're missing the point. If I can pull my ten previous logs and have nowhere the amount of hard pulls on the car then some random shop kid certainly has no right driving my car in the manner either. It's MY car, not his. /story

Turn this around to your advantage. You have them dead to rights with the computer log, fortunately there does not appear to be any damage (?hidden mechanical should show up well before your warrantee runs out).
I'd speak with the manager and work a deal to make you happy, such as next set of tires for your car (any of your cars) to be mounted and balanced for free....I am sure they would throw you this bone, it's usually $40 a wheel or so. Hold back on 'burning them' on Facebook or other since that's pretty useless to you! Mike (do they also sell gasoline? a few free fill ups?)

If you're dealing with decent folks caring for their business, they'll do some commercial gesture. Not necessary something of financial relevance, but at least something symbolic (apart from an apology).
