What would you do if someone drove your M2 like this?
I had my winter tires installed yesterday. I usually wait for my car but I had some things to take care of so I left it there and came back a couple hours later. I reset my trip meter when I pulled into the shop so the first thing I noticed was that there was 1.3 miles on it which I thought was odd. My 'automatic' wasn't syncing so I figured I'm just being crazy so I left. A short while later, I get home and app updates and this is what I found:

From automatic: "We use velocity to calculate G-forces. And to achieve a hard brake or acceleration, Automatic needs to calculate about 0.3 Gs from the velocity data." My car was taken for a joyride. Nothing standard about it.

I would go there and politely ask if anyone had driven it. Then when they say the obvious show them that, unacceptable. Somebody took your car on a joyride, no buts about it. There are no excuses either, driving hard on new tires for "break in" is against every principle too. I would make sure to get a answer so whoever did this doesn't do it again. I would be angry as I'm sure you are. |

If it was checking everything was installed good and potentially catch a loose wheel you would want to do that at a slow pace not accelerating hard..

Out these fools. Post the business name and phone number. Allow forum members to shit on them.
These occurrences seem to happen all too often.

So regardless of how bad it sucks, you probably prevented future bull-shittery for others which is awesome. I think this happens every time you get a service at a dealer with any M car, Or any Indy shop.We just don't always know to what extent. What app it that? I would love to try it. |

I'm getting my windows tinted soon and guess what, I'm waiting with the car. A dash cam is a deterrent but not a fail safe.

You have to buy the piece then download the app to your phone. "At Automatic, we consider an acceleration hard if you speed up 7 MPH or more in one second, equivalent to going from 0 to 60 MPH in about 9 seconds. In most cars, you have to floor the gas pedal to do this."

I've seen many great-reviewed dash cams on Amazon for less than $150.00
You simply record whenever in the car (or have someone working in it), then when you leave it, turn it off? How often does one have to pull it off to erase the full card/reset? (Generally) |

It's hardly a joyride at 1.3 miles and 9 minutes and zero interstate driving. That said, there's no reason for them to drive the car. This is odd indeed. I'd mention it to the manager and demand some sort of explanation/free swag. |
