For us with late model M2C and locked DME's will bm3 authorized dealers be able to unlock our DME's? Or do you have to send in to bm3 directly?

I've been told by a local dealer that they are indeed able to unlock. Don't know if this is a standard situation across dealers, but at least 1 can ;-)

Does anyone know if stage 2 91 OTS is more aggressive than stage 1 93 ots? The reason I ask this is I've datalogged stage 2 93 OTC and it looks as though it's pulling timing (knocking) in a few spots, possibly bad 93 gas or the tune is to aggressive, I don't know. So I'm up to the point I'm pasted stage 1 being full catless exhaust but wasn't sure if I should just go back to stage 1 93 again or run stage 2 91 OTS instead being it may be a little more aggressive. For now, I'm going to find a better gas station as well as attempt to run some octane booster.

Here are the results from today's dragy, only mods are drop-in air filters, Royal purple octane booster with 93 octane gas, resonated dp's and AA mid pipe on Stage 2 93 OTS BM2. For on the street I can't complain with the results thus far. Can't imagine what E85 does to these things.

Anyone knows the major differences from running stage 2 91octane and stage 2 E30 mix?? Finally getting the tune tomorrow but can't decide which tune to use.

Huge difference in power between 91 and E30 maps. E30 is much better octane

Yes, I currently have the AA mid-pipe as well as catless dp's, I enjoy the sound ;-) Thought about going Pure turbo upgrade and run 93 but not sure yet. Unfortunately, I don't have e85 where I'm located. Seems just running e85 on stage 2 alone would increase hp a good bit. Sad but was hoping for more performance with my stage 2 setup on bm3 ots flash. Have a feeling custom tuning will help but not sure how much is left in tuning vs the bm3 ots stage 2.
Custom tuning without more octane is a waste. M3 guy here on island is pushing 575 on e40 so im assuming 20whp left on pump with custom tune over bm3 stg2. No way im paying bucks for 20whp when we can upgrade turbos and rock 650 on pump.

Im personally pretty happy with bm3 stg2/catless dps combo. Heck of a kick for the cash and just need turbo upgrade now.

How is your transmission holding up? Do u drive it hard or just straight line pulls?

I didn't think there was a problem unlocking the DME if you send it in to protuningfreak. ?

No I didn't send it in to bm3 it was from an authorized dealer who I thought they would be able to tune it either by obd or bench flash. I was wrong and waisted my day. They have have a partner in socal where they would send it to them and flash it that way. It's a 4 day turnaround timetable so this is the only way for me since obd is out of the question.

If planned in advance the turn around from PTF should be less than a week. Four days might be a stretch. When I sent mine it was held by customs for a few extra days. That was my fault for not having the proper paperwork in place before I shipped. Once PTF unlocked it was back to me in TN in 2 days. I used FedEx. PTF used DHL. Perhaps they are better/ faster idk?

One thing is certain, PTF can unlock via Bench.

Well according to my tuner they can send my DME down to socal and have it flashed and sent back to me so no need to send it overseas. It'll be bench flashed by someone else not ptf directly. Is there a concern for me to do it this way?

Do you know who in SoCal can bench tune? I'm interested in sending mine there too

I was told Auto talent in Los Angeles can flash your DME. Also if I do decide to flash this way any physical change done to the DME or casing ??? Basically will BMW be able to tell it was pulled by physically looking at it?

I've read that they just access the contacts on the outside of the DME. The case seal is not broken.

They can tell it was flashed by looking into the software logs, supposedly...

Yeah that's fine I understand if they want to look hard enough they can see it in logs. I'm talking about physical change to the DME/casing

if bench flashed the DME will be physically opened. if pulled and inspected you'll be able to tell easily.

Lookup my previous thread when I owned an F82 and flashed my DME before the OBD stuff for S55 came to market. That should give you a first hand look at the process to bench flash..

Personally I'd wait for the folks at WinOLS/ Freiling/PTF to crack the newer TPROT for this revision of the DME. Enjoy the car as is for now, it has more than enough power for most drivers anyway. maybe try out a HPDE event ?
