M2 Front Park Distance Control Retrofit

I have decided to retrofit front park distance control onto my M2 in two stages.

Stage1:

I have changed the center console operating unit. Now I have "Park" button, which means that i can turn Park Sensor functionality off in Reverse after i parked my car, but dont want to turn off the engine. (Currently on M2, you cannot turn it off otherwise than turn the engine off).

02 Operating unit, center console 1 61319252912

Stage2:

Will order a new front bumper with the neccessary front sensors and mounts and related cables. Position and cut off the sensor's hole, and then respray the bumper and cable everything properly. In ISTA/P there is a Retfrofit Park Distance Control, front coding option.

More to come.

I usually have two front bumpers for my sport(y) cars. One for use, the other is for spare or in case of damage or in this case for development and testing purposes.

Good job in the retrofit!

I would like to know how to retrofit the rear camera for people in the USA that are not getting the Executive Package.

I am one of the few members on here that do now want the Executive Package which comes with the rear view camera, park distance control, etc. I just hate annoying beeps.

Detailed info about adding that button. The constant beeping is the only thing that irritates me about the car!

Will you put together a step by step please

Wow there is no button to switch it off??

I'm even more happy I did not select the executive package now. 😃

Great info. Thanks for sharing.

It seems its tottally possible as far as I know. This is the first mod I will ad to mine as well.

It would be even easier if we could just stop the accoustic signal once rear gear is disengaged...as it happens in other cars I have!

BMW should make it go off when you take it out of reverse. Why do they need a button to turn it off? As of now you have to either put the car in drive and slightly pull forward or turn the car off. A definite oversight.

Yep, interested as well in the button to turn it off lol

Lack of Front pdc seems fine due to shorter front end (for now)

For those who care - do take note that the center console part no. supplied by the OP is for a part that shows Sport and Eco Pro for the selector switch, instead of Sport and Comfort as it currently is in the M2.

When pulling into a space and then into the space in front of that one, I will push the button to see the line between the spaces to see if I have pulled far enough forward or too far.

Hope that makes sense.

Thats exactly what my other car does. As soon as reverse is disengaged...parktronic is disconnected. That would me much easier.

Yes, but after purchasing the mentioned above part number, you can reuse your old Sport and Comfort button and relocate them onto the new console, as I did with it :-)

Were you able to retrofit it perfectly?
