Aftermarket hood (Feedback needed)
We have been receiving many request for full carbon or FRP hoods for the F87 M2 and M2C. At the moment all of the quality options are made in Germany and shipping alone comes in over $1200 USD. Even the new M-performance hood from BMW cost around 5k.
At iND we have access to a quality carbon manufacture located right here in the Midwest. Having them located by us will not only remove the $1200 shipping cost but we will have little to no transit cost from the manufacture to IND. They can produce the hoods in fiberglass or full carbon fiber with an inner carbon Kevlar core. examples of the quality (E92 M3 hood) Now we would like to lock-in a design (Please vote) Design A Design B Design C Design D

Maybe it's just me but. None. Those vents make it look like any other ricer on the 350Z or G35 forums. No vents is cleaner

"A" for sure. Also not 100% sold on the vents, but if I had to choose from those three, option "A" by a long shot.

Wish it could be mixed material where the vents are carbon but the rest is FRP to save dramatically on cost. It has been done and would offer something unique and save on cost and you'd move more units imho. Spending $4-5G on a hood makes zero sense to me.
That being said, the vents need to be more streamlined vs the tacked-on look.

I'd be all over one without vents. Just give us a power dome.

No vents an option? Maybe something that looks similar to the E92/f8x and/or m2 M Performance hood with just the powerdome. Otherwise, option A with much smaller vents.

Agreed on the "no vents" comments.
Also, I hope you're going to offer various painting options. I like to the look of the exposed CF on the powerdome. |
