Theft Avert

Am about to do paperwork to pick up my m2 and found Theft Avert $249 on the purchase agreement. Never was informed of this. Anyone familiar with it?

Yes, I did a little research, and its glass etching in case of theft. Some states supposedly are required to "offer" it, but you do not have to take it.

Covers dealer overhead in processing vehicle registration and related crap. Not sure MA has it, but in CT they tell you it is a state law, which again is BS, but most dealers will not waive the fee.

Took delivery today. Asked my C/A about this charge and he told me "All their cars come with this option". While doing the transaction with the finance officer she explained all the charges to me, this being one of them. I told her I did not order it, and did not want it. She took it off without hesitation.

Nice, enjoy the car, all of this won't mean anything soon.

Dealer here calls this etching VTR, and they do it to every car.

It's all relative - the amount of money it saved me on insurance per year to have was more than enough to pay for the etching.
