Laguna Seca
I’m out here at Laguna for the HOD event. It’s my first track outing at LS and my first track outing in the M2C. I’ve had 3 sessions so far, plan to hit a 4th and bail. The brakes get squishy fast. Now I get all the negative reviews. Pads or fluid, the M2C needs em! They worked fine but feel is terrible if you’re pushing the pace. With the Carbahn tune, I can chase a new GT3 down in the straights, which is wild. I filled a whole tank with 101, so it may be running especially strong. The Cup 2’s are awesome, although I overheated them a bit in the second session and they started to get sloppy. Lastly, I’ve still got it. I’ve just recently gotten back into track driving after racing and tracking a ton over 15 years ago. The feel is coming back, and I’m running near the front. Feels great.
The M2C is a great track car. It’s also the most popular option out here after GT3’s. I’ve counted 5 M2’s and 3 M2C’s. |

Were you running any data / telemetry? Curious what times you're running and your speed on the front straight and at the top of the hill before braking for the 'screw.
As for squishy brakes, I'd say you cooked the fluid. Castrol SRF is pretty solid and I'd do a full flush with that for the next track outing. Also, sounds like you are a quick driver so brake pads may also be in order. Pagid Yellow (RS29) is a popular track pad that works well on the street as well (except for the noise). |

I only ran Track Addict on my last of 4 sessions with a passenger. Best was a 1:47. 1:46 if I piece together the best section times. Not quite as fast as I thought I was, but I’m happy with it for first time back. Top speed on the front straight was 112, but the front straight sequence was one area that I was definitely giving up some time, easing off the throttle over the crest. I need a few more sessions to fully commit over the crest. Best speed up the corkscrew after turn 6 was 108 mph. What’s good for an experienced driver? I see that 1:40’s-1:42’s on the lap time post. I definitely have a few sections that I was scrubbing seconds. The corkscrew is another that I need more experience with. I will say that the inconsistency in brake feel had me braking softer and earlier on the big braking zones.
I started with 28 psi and they were at 35-37 psi after the first session. Pads + Fluid are top of the list for the next outing. I also totally blasted the rocker panels. I need to respray and PPF the rear edge of the rockers. I’m sooo happy I wrapped the front of the car. Last edited by Bill in Marin; 02-29-2020 at 11:25 AM.. |

I would say an experienced driver at your power level might be closer to 1:42 for sure if everything else is stock. The stock brakes won't last more than 1-2 laps at that pace though. |

As noted, pads and fluid will make a huge difference
How do you like the Carbahn tune? I'm starting to get tired of higher HP cars that slow me down in the corners and then won't let me pass on the straights |

I just watched a 1:37 M2 lap video, and the driver topped out at 128 on the front straight, so I’ve definitely got serious seconds I gave up there. I was in a point-by group, and the front straight was usually pretty busy. His back straight speeds were much closer, but I see where I can trim 4-5 seconds. Then it gets tough.

Bill in Marin.
I was supposed to be at Laguna instructing but unfortunately a pinched nerve in my back has rendered my right leg painfully useless so had to bail. Would have enjoyed meeting you and getting the cars on track and comparing notes. Maybe we can connect at one of the north bay cars and coffee. Have a great event |

45-50
I love the tune. It does feel under-tired now. I got squirrelly just today merging onto the highway, burying the throttle at ~45-50. It did feel good at the track to just tear away from 997's out of the corners.

What other mods do you have?
If you have a video of your lap, feel free to post it as well. That 1:37 video of Alex is quick but he was also on slicks if I remember correctly. |

I just started another thread, I am ordering track wheels + tires, as well as track pads + fluid. I'm considering slicks. My next trackday is looking like Sonoma on 4/13. |

Aleks's shop installed my Ohlins, SS brake lines and corner balanced my car. At that time he was running AP racing brakes and a well tuned three-way adjustable suspension....and I believe RE71 tires...stock N55 engine. At the time he was all about the braking being more important than increased power for our car's track performance.
