Used VHT matte black per your recommendation. Just used masking tape to protect the exhaust tips, and applied 3 coats. Easy enough just lie down and spray away. (Though, I do have a bit of a headache from breathing in the fumes. So, you know, if nobody sees me on the forum over the next couple of days, maybe someone call 911?)

Now you see it... now you don't!
looks so much better!

Also, the haphazard spraying is probably why I inhaled so many fumes. Honestly, I thought about putting on one of those surgical mask thingies, but I didn't want to perpetuate any Asian stereotypes amongst my caucasian neighbors. Like, here, in the States, whenever I see a fellow Asian wearing one of those masks, I always want to pull them aside and say, "Yo, yo, yo... I know that's the height of fashion where we come from, but we don't really do that here."

I'll keep everyone updated as to whether it stays on, or needs constant re-application.

Lmao man that is dangerous AF those fumes must be no bueno!!

You're funny..

I would mess with my neighbors if I was you, when they ask what I'm doing, I would of said;

"Oh, just installing a JDM exhaust, I made it myself"

Great job BTW

Lmao! Well it's not so much a fashion statement as a necessity, at least here, because we get a ton of residual polluted air from our neighbors to the west (**cough* China *cough**)

Painted Muffler

VHT is most popular, but most any high heat spray paint will do.

The flat black paint conceals the M2C's big cajones very well..

As long as the paint holds up for at least the winter, I say it's now a nonissue..

Painted Mufflers - how are we holding up?

So when I take delivery I NEED to paint that exhaust can. It’s like the first thing I’m doing. Question - for those who painted theirs a month or two ago how’s it holding up? Any cracking or the need to repaint?

Holding up just fine so far. No cracks, no stretch marks, no complaints that I'm looking at other cars' mufflers.

Are you guys using this: ABOUT HIGH HEAT

Keep extra-hot exhaust manifolds, headers looking extra sleek with Rust-Oleum® Automotive High Heat Spray. This flat, protective enamel bonds to bare metal and withstands intermittent temperatures of up to 2000°F (1093°C).
Resists heat up to 2000°F
Gas & Oil Resistant
Stops Rust formula
Any-Angle Spray with Comfort Tip
FOR BEST RESULTS
Use with Rust-Oleum High Heat Primer Spray.

Mufflers deal with temperatures that range between 300 and 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Due to the intensity of heat produced by an engine's emission system, most exhaust systems are built to handle an excess of 1,200 degrees. This product should be more than adequate.

BBQ grill paint works just fine as well, used it before on many cars previously. Tends to be matte in finish, helps it disappear even further. Also pretty inexpensive as you can pick it up in many places.

I'm tempted to do this but I really really really do not want to go under the car and smell fumes.

I really like cptobvious' solution, looks legit

I'm sure you could find someone to do it for you, but then you'd need to turn in your man card too.

Get the tips powder coated. Great quality and they last like wheels. It's not expensive as well.
I had my Z,s tips powder coated in Satin Black.

are there any instructions on how to drop the exhaust? I'm really anal and would love to do the entire thing off the car. Am I being crazy?
