I actually think that the seat shown in the picture of the test mule is indeed the competition seat from the M4 - it looks a little different because of the headrest from the rear seats. You can even see the lines on the back that lead to the head rest of the actual seat.

Just my two cents.

It is the same... You only see the headrest and the system to tilt the seat forward, and you do not see the holes. Look at the picture I made:

Red line is the rear shelf underneath the rear window with the head rest folded inwards.

Yellow line shows the shape of the seat.

Purple line shows the line which is on the back of the seat just above the lever to tilt the seat.

Add this to the fact that BMW is NOT going to develop a brand new seat for just one car, and you have your answer.

Are you color blind or am I color blind, because that line's purple.

Maybe BMW will use a modified version of the Mini F56 JCW seats

I've got them on my Mini and they are very comfortable and more firmed of the standard M2 seats

Magenta, the color despised by most pilots ("Don't fly into magenta !").

I'm a big guy, and I fit nicely in the current M2 seats. Seats and Exhaust are my top concerns when it comes to the CS.

Are the Optional 712: "M Sports Seat" the same the M3/M4 Sport Seats? Is that the thinking?

That is the consensus of the rumor mill. I need the lower seating position (more headroom) so I'm watching this very closely.

They probably are the same seats as the M3 and M4.The question is are they the regular M seats or the competition package M3/M4 seats.

This pic shows the back of the drivers seat and it looks to be the same shape as the seats from the M3 and M4.

I can fade the M2 brakes on the road with 5-10 minutes hard driving on a decent back road. I've had them fade on a Swiss mountain pass without pushing the car at all. They are shocking and indefensible.
The picture below was sitting somewhere in the back of my mind ("what has been seen, cannot be unseen" ).

Managed to retrieve it in the M2 vaults (Spring 2015): BMW M testing an M2 test mule at the Nürburgring.

I think it is likely 100% confirmed now that there will not be a CS variant. Just the Competition version next summer (I say "just" but that's likely to be a monster car) followed by CSL end of 2019.

Sometimes, for example when comparing the M2 to the 1M (see here).

But on rare occasions a post may be hiding an Easter Egg. For example this post of 25 September 2015 in a thread entitled " Just a few moons till Oct 14, 2015" (see here):
  • the title referred to the (base) M2 presentation date;
  • the post referred to the (base) M2 world debut date and location (motor show): the first letter of each word of the post reads "Thirteen January Detroit".
