Except that the ZCP does get a different tune, exhaust, suspension, roll bars, plus the visual queues like the blacked out grills, gills, emblems, seats, wheels...

If there's a similar % over the base M4 vs. the M4 CS, then they're going to have to do a lot more than drop an S55 in and call it a day.

$80K?
I have mentioned it before, but that's in the range of (loaded or decently optioned):
-C63S AMG
-M4 ZCP
-RS5
-Corvette Grand Sport
-Cayman S/GTS
-GT350 R (w/ a little ADM)..although difficult to get

Those are some upscale cars with either superior performance to the M2 CS and/or much nicer interiors and more panache.

I don't know... I can't see $80K.

I hope they don't ask 80k, you know if they think they can get that from us they will try
I am interested up to @ 65-70k... if it does not sound like a typical S55 exhaust and it has to be manual. I am more than happy to pick up my LCI as well.

Is this for real??? If so, sign me up for an M2 cs! Where did you get that info from??

Any word on pricing?

I think we're now starting to go in circles. Even some of the videos are now being reposted on YouTube.

Someone needs to give me some information. Nothing new's come out for a while now, with the exception of the paint choices.

I said engine is the main thing to differentiate CS from a competition. Clearly all the other chassis, weight reduction, aero and cosmetic changes would apply too.

For those reasons I think price will be a comparable increase like the M4 CS.

Here in Australia
M2 is $100k
M4 comp is $167
M4 CS is $211k

Based on this, the M2 CS should be at least $125k here

No chance the next-gen M3 and M4 get a detuned S63?

All while not having the bespoke M3/4 interior and less power? I don't get it. I guess BMW is just that good at marketing.

Closest German competitor will most likely be the TT-RS. That is daily-able sports car with a glorious 5-cyl, bespoke interior, digital dash, and nearly identical power for under $65K with a dual clutch already factored in. CS will most certainly be better on a circuit but 95%+ of their buyers will never see a track. Not to mention BMW already absorbed the R&D of many parts on this car from the siblings. If this car ends up being >$70K (ideally $65K), especially with a manual (won't buy without it), then BMW is overcharging for this car and I'm out.
I'm with you on this, however BMW seems to have been rather ambitious for a minor power hike. Suspension tweaks and CF goodies in the M4CS resulting in a 50% price increase.

In no way do I think it's worth that and I truely believe sales are not going well. Hopefully not long to wait and see what a CS will be at...

The M3, while practical just felt too large (longer than the porshe), the M2 is actually shorter than the 911 and felt that way. Engine sound also mattered coming from a NA engine.

In the end different priorities for different, hence why they make different cars to fit people's needs.
This is essentially my position, too. Went from a 15 M3 to my current 981 Cayman on X73 suspension so I'm used to a lighter, better handling car now. Ultimately, going from Cayman to M2 is more of a compromise in my situation. I want a cheaper car that's still engaging but with a little more practicality... the added bonus is that the car is still pretty rare in my area.

Yeah, I'm in Philly and agree, I've only seen the M2 a handful of times. Driving the 76, it may be the same car (LBB)!

I love all the talk of this car though. I know in the end some will be disappointed with what it will or will not have, but I'm excited to see what transpires.

It is nice to see BMW at least trying to make variations of the M sedans/coupes instead of just flooding the market with so many crossovers/SUVs. Their lineup is too big right now, but at least they are giving enthusiasts something to talk about. Now we just need more official info...

It's interesting that you and I did the same thing, but in reverse order.

I am hoping that the M2 CS will be right in the sweet spot between the F80 and a 981 - a little more DD capability than the 981, but a little more rawness and emotion than the F80.

And I really like my F80 - there's just a little something missing in the emotion department...

I agree - and I sincerely hope they make a M2 GC at some point...THAT would be the car to have.

It just goes to show how dynamic car shopping can be but I agree! I have no regrets getting the Cayman as I have now tasted the P-car kool-aid and it tastes good but I do miss the versatility of the F80 at times. No, I don't need four doors and back seats but it is nice to have and comes in handy. Emotionally, I wasn't connected to the F80; I think 75% of that came from trying DCT and not liking it that much; I got pretty bored of it. Plus I had a 2015 civic M3. I think a 6mt ZCP LCI M3 would have been a keeper. I also traded in my first M car ever (and favorite car I've ever owned) my 6mt e92 M3. I jumped the gun by selling that car so quickly. Being my first M and truthfully the M car that got me interested in BMW in the first place, I was in love with that car. But BMW got me with my need for "latest and greatest"... nowadays I couldn't care less about that lol

I have some big ticket purchases coming up in the not-so-distant future (wedding, new house, more rescue dogs lol) so I need to be conscious of my car-buying.. the base M2 seems to tick most of the compromise boxes. I'd love the CS but it'll most likely be a bit more than I'm looking to spend right now. However, I'm thrilled by the idea of it!

Definitely good info here on the upcoming M2 CS. On price - it has to be under $60k. People are going to cross shop the M2 with the RS3, and I can spec an 'enthusiast' version of that car for just under $60k.

The M2 CS will need a lot to be offered if I'm gonna get rid of my M4.
Specifically different seats and leather (similar or the same as m4).
M-style mirrors.
Carbon Fiber Roof.
Weight down to 3400 lbs(not asking a lot).

However that doesn't downplay that the addition of the s55 is an awesome move and makes me excited about the release of the car. I just believe most of us expect a lot from BMW and would pay similar money to an m4 if it can come full circle as an "M" car.

I don't think we will see those visual pieces like the CF roof, F80-style mirrors, but I hope we see them.

Quite logical, as it's still too early to fasten your seatbelt. Still a few months of patience.
