My average consumtion over the full 8000 km I've driven is 11 l/100 km. In the city it can be over 20 l/100 km. If I tried hard I could get it below 10 I'm sure. But then again, if I drive in such a way the engine and the car is rendered completely useless. Could have bought a much cheaper 218d instead and saved even more fuel. When I did my 1200 mile service after they changed all the fluids they had to hook up to computer to perform some 1200mile service update that takes off the restrictions giving you all the power available. I didn't really notice a difference in power until like a few days later.

Does driving mode affect fuel consumption (comfort, sport, sport+) much?

I absolutely LOVED my E46 ZHP. It was really almost the perfect car. Kept it 7 years and put over 140,000 miles on it. In my M2, I just hit 1,200 miles. Averaging just under 21 mpg in mostly city driving. And I drive without any regard to conserving fuel. Pretty happy with that.

I have no problem getting 9.5-10 L/100 km (23-25mpg). Works out to 500 km (310 mi) per tank.
This is for everyday driving. On a spirited drive it's more, quite a bit more |

I think it's not too bad considering I get 11L/100km on my MK6 VW Golf R (note: fuel consumption was not considered when purchasing this car )

Yes it does, but it's "tuned" for 300hp/300tq

That's exactly how I felt about my E93 M3, which is why I eventually got rid of it. It wasn't about the cost, but feeling like I was always filling up, watching the needle...

During week, city and short distances most of the time, "sport" mode as soon as temp. is ok. 16l/100km. Tomorrow a trip of 300km mainly on highway. I am curious...
