I think so? DuPont calls it a siloxane oil, which I think means polymerized silicon and oxygen. But to be clear: IANAC (I am not a chemist).

Hey

I've recently got my car repaired after an accident and immediately after they 'repaired' it the drivetrain error is coming up and the typical issues with this. They're telling me it's wear and tear and have found a leak in the gearbox oil line but I never had an issue before they touched it and it's around the area they worked on. With labour it's quite an expensive job.

I know what errors diagnostics showed and what they replaced and been trying to find a schematic to confirm if it is something they've done but had no luck. Anyone have any advice/sources for this or can point me in the direction of an old thread that might do would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Then they didnt *actually* fix it. Unless that problem was there before the accident, I would consider every change to the car to be ‘as a result of that accident.’ I believe thats the legal definition too

Believe me I agree with you, been arguing with the insurers that very point! I insisted the car was taken to BMW for the diagnostic before another 'repair' is attempted (this next time I'm insisting with BMW).

They're claiming it's wear and tear but after speaking to BMW seems the garage might have left out some details. It just seems impossible that this wear and tear kicked in after I'd driven 100m off the garage forecourt haha

M2 is still in the garage for the winter months but have picked up a few items to play with.

Ended up getting the DS15 on Black Friday awhile back, along with some NGK plugs. Recently found a deal on a used CTS intake & P3 gauge for $200usd so had to pick them up.
If the intake is too obnoxious I should be easily able to get my money back out of that.
The P3 will take up my OBD so I wouldn’t be able to run BM3 gauges on my phone at the same time so we will see which I prefer

P3 is on my list of future mods.

Isn’t there OBD splitters out there that would let you do both?

Hmm that’s a good idea, I will have to look into that further. Thanks! I love the clean look of the P3 gauge and wanted to get one for my MK7R but I just use my access port in that as a gauge.

Got my 6 year service today. Car checked out great. No problems. Love the $225 three year oil change. Should be able to get 4 time based oil changes in (not driving over 10,000 miles per year).

Interesting. My dealer doesn't have such at thing that I know of. It's $160 a pop, once a year. Of course, it's a lot less for me because I change it myself (half price at $80).

It is a BMWNA deal. So your dealer has to offer it. Great deal for four oil changes (one at the time of purchase and one each year thereafter at the minimum). Only requirement is that the car must be at least 5 years old.

Bro, that's fantastic. $56.25 per oil change is stupid cheap. It still wouldn't help me if my dealership offered it because it's 125 miles away, but it's a great deal for sure.

Imo it depends on what oil they use. If they're changing it with 0w30 FE then even if it was cheaper than that I wouldn't do it.

My dealer used 65 83-21-5-A42-D39 LL01FE oil 0W-30.

By the way I can take my M2 to any dealer in the US for the free oil changes and if I sell the car the free oil changes transfer to the new owner.

I thought the LL01 5w40 was best? Is the 0w30 because you're in a cooler climate?
