BMW M2 Convertible Revealed?

Do these images confirm the existence and future production of an M2 convertible? According to Autoblog.nl, they do, and are official computer generated images from BMW.

If true, its existence would run counter to BMW's claim just six months ago that there would be no M2 Convertible because the company wished to keep the M2 as purist as they did with the 1 Series M Coupe.

Neat to see, but it could just mean that BMW was once considering a convertible M2 (before eventually nixing the project).

There are hundreds and hundreds of renderings like these that never see the light of day.

Convertible's elegance doesn't work well with M2's menacing attitude.

There is no such a thing as not making convertible just to keep m2 as pure as it is now, otherwise sunroof shouldn't be an option first.

Anyway, who knows. There has been no lines for a while that BMW wouldn't across to make money.

BTW, those convertible rendering makes me think m2 is still a long car, isn't it?

Wow that looks awesome. I'm all for choice -- let's hope this comes to fruition. I'm sure the customers would be lining up outside the door for this so at least we know that demand is definitely not a reason to hold off.

Finally something worthy of replacing my e85 M roadster!! For those who want the top down experience while still getting the true M experience this could be an option.

The car has Alcantara interior that is only available for M Sport package, and I can still see the aluminium trim.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but someone just put the F87 and F23 together and sent it to autoblog.nl.

An even more expensive, heavier, less nimble slower M2 won't look good against the recently uprated and impressive M240i coupe

I expect the drop top will be made next time around instead unless the M2 engines are swapped for B58 and uprated at LCI.

1. It's not from a CAD, using a generic shader kit with gi lighting.

2. There would be a render with the top up

3. It would compete with the z5

4. They can't even produce enough units of the m2 as it stands

I'm not anywhere near being a fan of verts, but like the 4 series vert, this looks good. Would drive if it were real.
