For those running the Autosolutions SSK - anyone between a 20 and 25% reduction? I’m scheduled for 25%- would love some opinions. 25% front to back seems about right but how is it side to side?

Exhaust is a bit of Pandora’s box on these things…can go AA EL midpipe (resonated) and Remus race back box for what’s seemingly consensus on the best sounding loud setup (I don’t personally know, just what I read here). Can start with just doing an AA EL midpipe unresonated and keeping the dinan back box, but there’s a chance you get a brutal rasp on cold start and for the first 2-5 mins of driving if you don’t let it fully warm up. I had that with my stock CS back box so went to resonated mid pipe. Absolutely love the sound now, much more clean and collected, but unresonated (once warm) was definitely more violent and visceral, especially on downshift like you mentioned. Hit or miss on who experiences the cold start rasp / what combinations have it…and it’s easy enough to go back and add resonators if needed, so could just give it a try.

Either way, congrats on the car, it’s gorgeous and welcome to the CS community!
Thanks! Great advice on exhaust setup. I looked at the AA EL mid pipe and it looks like the straight or resonated sections are modular, so I could start with one and move to the other. I’m ordering a valve controller and I’m thinking of ordering the unresonated option to start with. The Dinan setup eliminated the stock resonators and it’s quiet to me.

How do you like the CS vs the OG?

Only a couple of drives under my belt owing to a late winter storm. Initial thoughts are the CS suspension is a revelation. Really compliant. Makes the car very usable as a daily and with my wife. The interior finishes and seats are worlds better. The power is a massive step up and at times it’s more than the car can put down which is fun. It also feels more special owing to the aesthetic differences.

The OG wins on sound…with a Dinan exhaust it was angry and loud. The CS is good but getting just what I want will take more work. Not that it’s an issue, I like tinkering.

One of the best parts about these cars is making them your own with your personal touches. And out of exhausts options I have personally found only the iPE followed closely by Akra to actually sound good - and not just good for an S55 . Of course that is subjective though. And neither of those can compare to a proper OG setup. But everything else on the car more than makes up for that.

My 2 cents.. don't cut the CS exhaust. My shop is storing my full one piece exhaust from the down pipes back. The CS one is unique and hard to find it has laser engraved tips welded directly on (not that it's super special but good to keep intact as it's a limited car). I ended up going with the active Autowerk signature. It's a single 3.5" exhaust all the way back and imo the best sounding S55 I've heard

I hear you on the exhaust being special, and that’s why I’m not changing the back box as the look of the CS tips to me is just so perfect and no aftermarket setup looks as good. The diaper, not so much, but it’s grown on me and after I learned that design was functional (aero) I now see it differently. To me the CS tips are just perfect heritage BMW.

I hear you on not molesting anything original on these cars but the exhaust is one area where I don’t mind. The ONLY thing you are cutting is one straight section and if you cut it clean, it can easily be welded back and operate 100% and no know one would ever know if likely care. Just my two cents on that.

The PO cut it (one cut) so I’ll end up welding it if it goes back on. The full AA setup is intriguing but I think I’ll start with the midpipe on my Dinan can and see how it goes. Would be great to hear the AA live. Have to see if anyone has it in the Toronto area. Thanks

Oh I didn't realize you already had the dinan back box. Then yeah definitely try the AA mid. Can't go wrong with either single or EL, each has its own pros

AA EL for me was a legit game changer - fixed the ONLY thing I didn’t absolutely love on the car. Now it’s just an all out love affair, despite my occasional desire to cheat with a V8 haha

If you’re going to stray, go NA V8. I had an E92 M3 with an Akra evo exhaust and it was epic.

Was legit torn between E9X and GT350R…snagged an R, for reasons I explained in a separate post and I dont wanna hijack this thread and make it about me - but simply put, wanted an experience as radically different from the CS as possible, but still a sports car I could legit love. And I achieved my goal

Agreed. I bought an E92 in October. It's got the active Autowerk Catless X pipe with the stock back box and eventuri CF intake and it's orgasmic above 5k. Waiting for the warm weather to bring out the CS with the cup 2s. I still love my M2 as well. They both offer such a different driving experience imo

Ordered a CG Precision valve controller and the Autosolutions SSK at 22.5%. Ronald was great to deal with and it looks like May delivery.

For the Ultimate Clutch pedal, Turner and ECS are saying Sept delivery. The UCP website is sketchy and the cart doesn’t work. Anyone have a suggestion of someone who might have the UCP in stock?
