I think it's a good thing for M2C to be considered for comparison with legends.

A guy from BMW of North America called me about a month after I took delivery of my car asking me what my thoughts were saying BMW was collecting consumer feedback to help influence their future cars.

Among many things I told him the car reminded me of my e46 M3 which was a good thing because I felt like the 3-series had grown to be too large and he said that he had been hearing that a lot from owners in conducting the research. I saw this video when it was uploaded and, even though I loved my e46, I was surprised they chose the CSL.

In describing the transmission in the CSL, the word horrendous was used multiple times.

It seems ridiculous that any M car can be called the best M car ever, and have an integral part of the driving experience be described as horrendous.

Those clowns should have had the guts to give the victory to the historically significant E30 M3, and state clearly that the CSL lost just because it didn’t have a good transmission.

The M2C is the best M car for me... I don’t care where it ranks in M car history.

They did manage to convey that the M car history, that all began with the E30 M3, included many great, fun to drive fast sports cars, with only a few disappointments along the way.

I’ve had all 3. I regret selling the E30, don’t miss the E46 and love my (manual) M2C. In an ideal world I’d have the E30 and the M2C.

I guess I'm batting 0 and 2..

IMO I have both Alpha and Omega.

(also - E36 is probably the best track chassis bmw has ever created BUT not really the point of the video).

The e46 chassis is nearly identical to the e36, if you spend any time taking both apart. But, the e46 is a stiffer stiffer chassis and fits bigger tires... and most of the weak points fixed.

Not knocking the E46 and I spend most of my free time doing custom fab in a BMW race shop with both chassis. Dollars for pounds I'd take the S54 in an IP setup E36. It's quite a popular swap.

Dollars unlimited.. I can't show photos but the current E46 project in the shop is... Desirable.
