Same here! I had a professional detailer look at it and he shared with me that he could not find anyone in the Netherlands that could fix it.
The only thing they offered me is painting all four rims since the color of the single rim would 100% differ from the other three. For now we left it and made it a bit better than it was... I am amazed that your guys in the U.S. are able to fix this. Isn't there anyone in Europe who can do this? MR |

I had this guy fixed mine. Mine was worse than the OP, but I can't really tell where it was unless I touch the wheel. The clear coat he put on is not as good as OEM so it's not as smooth. But for $120, I'm really happy with the work. I can't believe no one in Europe can do this. This guy is mobile and he actually came to my house to do the repair. All this guy has is a truck and just some sanding, paint mixing and spraying tools.

That actually is someone else's and it's much worse than mine.
By the way, no wheel/tire removal for my repair. Last edited by snowice; 08-11-2017 at 12:47 AM.. |

I'm amazed people are having this much trouble finding someone to repair their wheels. I would think a good wheel repair shop/paint shop could match the clear coat no problem

The issue is the silver portion of the wheel is raw polished metal with just a clear coat. If it was a typical alloy wheel with a base coat and clear coat the repair is easy and includes sanding down the rash, adding bondo or similar filler, priming, painting and clearing. Repairs on these types of wheels are flawless if done correctly.
The above process is obviously not possible with the bare metal edge of diamond cut wheels. The fix that most places recommend if you want all 4 wheels to match is to paint the silver bare metal portion with a grey base coat and then clear it. |

I had my curbed wheel repaired by a mobile repairer organised by BMW dealer. He said it won't be perfect but I thought worth a try as much cheaper. In the end its all good - indeed not perfect if wheels are just freshly cleaned and you look from 2 feet. But with 2 days of minor brake dust on the wheel its not noticeable.

I drove all the way from Tucson to LA to have two wheels repaired by Son Tran, he did amazing work, I am as OCD as they come and I cannot tell where the repairs were done. In addition to doing great work and showing tremendous pride in doing the job right Son is a hell of a nice guy. Unfortunately I don't have the patience to figure out how to post before and after photos but if anyone wants me to email I can do that and provide his contact information. He charges between 100 and 150 a wheel depending on the level of damage which is a total bargain. In AZ the shops I spoke with wanted 200-300 and they all told me that they wouldn't be able to match the finish so I am not sure what the point would be. BTW the round trip was just under 1,000 miles so yes, I have some serious OCD.

He normally doesn't deal with shipping but I asked him if he would allow me to ship a wheel to him if I had an issue in the future and he was open to the idea, I think I would just need to do a prepaid label for the return. You could probably estimate shipping cost on the UPS or Fedex website.
