BUT, they also stated after the favourable conditions phrase that 'in the end' --->M2 CS is about more engine power and more tyre grip.<---- So what already has been said, M2 Comp + Sport Cups and a tune and you're good to go.... Cheers Robin |

So much discussion when the guy who drove them both and wrote the article summarized the lap-time difference in a few words: it came down only to more power and better tires. No magic suspension or diff mods, etc. Not even the weight difference.

When this thread was first posted the only thing posted was the specs, there was no article, and after seeing the temp variance, we need to wait to get more data..... The (HP/weight-savings/tires) will obviously produce better times, but same day testing would be more applicable.

Side question: wondering how the bonnet/hood air vent in M2/M3/M4 CS and M4 GTS contributes in managing engine heat.

Pop the hood after the session and there's no heat coming up off the engine block. It's almost bizarre. I'm sure the vent helps.

From what I have read, the extractor on the M3/4 CS/GTS hood's main purpose is to generate downforce. In conjunction with the front lip, it reduces the amount of air that flows under the car's body and reduces positive pressure under the hood. I am sure it also helps with increasing the flow through the front radiators.

2 seconds is a substantial difference in lap times and the CS is almost as fast as the new NSX and faster than the 718 GTS around that track. That is impressive!!
Conversely, couldn't care less about lap times. Already reserved my manual M2CS to join my M4CS, which I absolutely love and would never sell. |

That's so funny: 13.3s on the 0-200km/h vs 15.4s for the M2C, and still some here are trying to make the point that the CS is not significantly faster And some are the very same folks that previously claimed that the M2C is SO much faster than the base M2, while it is less than 0.5s faster on the 0-200km/h
More seriously I'm impressed by the acceleration and deceleration of this CS, and what is even more appealing to me is its adaptative suspension. The OG/C non-adaptative suspension is pure shit, while the M-perf coilover suspension can be well tuned to a given surface but is far from optimal in all conditions. Factoring its impressive performances, its adapt. suspension, its decreased weight, and its exclusivity, this CS is a very appealing package to me! The price is high, but there is nothing better for it on the market if you're searching for a track-oriented sport car with enough practicality to be used as DD. And maybe will it keep pretty well its value (at least in MT), given its exclusivity and the dark evolution of BMW (I don't have much hope for the G87 M2, at least in terms of design, given the look of the new M3/M4). So, in short, I'm seriously considering buying this CS |

Then you should know that once you get the tires up to temp, good grip can be achieved.
