DONT wash driver side engine compartment on S55!!

Hello I recently installed the VTT crank hub on my M2 Competition and when filling the engine coolant it spilled and I figured meh not a big deal I'll wash it off. Unfortunately after starting car I had 5 codes all related to terminal 15 short to ground and O2 sensor heating short to ground or low voltage.

Turns out the ISM which is a junction box that houses terminal 15 which is located right by the coolant revisor is not water proof!! So it got fried. If you spilled water or coolant in this area and now you have these codes odds are the ISM is fried just like mine. It's super simple to install a new one and after doing so no more codes! Hope this helps anyone I'll attach a picture of the ISM

Thanks for the tip!! I'll have to keep this in mind when I detail my engine bay.

Did you spray directly into the engine bay, or were you misting it? I normally put plastic bags over items like alternators but most of the other cars have more room in the engine bay. This is good to know for sure though!

Just did a quick engine bay spray down nothing high pressure and I never focused water on the electronic components especially in this section of the engine bay. Literally something I do all the time to other cars with zero problems definitely taking extra care in this section of the engine bay of this car moving forward

Same thing happened to me while my mechanic did the VTT V2 crank hub, but I got different codes , disregard the fuel mixture codes as I'm in the process of tuning for e85 😂

Power management code tells me it definitely could be the same thing although you'd have to run further checks to see. I've hear of guys also getting a code that says battery discharging too quickly or something that was the same thing. As for the valve tronic codes I'm not sure if they are related. Did you replace ISM?

I'm going later tonight to replace the ISM , I'll let you know later tonight if that's the issue, he did tell me that he spilled coolant on it and he was sure it's going to go bad and the next day was when I got the codes
