If it helps anyone, when mine was replaced by the dealer, it was the fitting for the expansion tank that had failed - apparently it was rusted out and leaking

Can someone confirm that this is the correct way?

Do we need to use a BMW branded coolant for this?

Is this something I should be looking to do soon? Even w/ a low mileage M2 ?

It’s the built-in method that BMW designed into the car.

I think it’s highly recommended to use OEM coolant.

I plan to perform a coolant flush on my M2 every two years.

Evwrty two years is probably too frequent, but I agree with everything else you posted.

Oh, OK! I’m looking to dial in the right maintenance intervals for a street-driven M2:
https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2022766

What’s a good coolant flush interval?

I do it every 4 years. Pentosin (is an OE for bmw and makes a lot of parts for bmw, and some of these parts could be coolant) says to do it every 5 years or 60k miles - whatever comes first.

So I guess it’s time for me.

What about the plastic part that connects to the expansion tank?

The over flow hose? Yeah replace that too if it's never been replaced before. Those get old and brittle with time.

Do we have issues like this too on the N55? Described as Mickey Mouse coolant hose connector flange. Also plastic. Is that for the N52 only?

Yes that's also an issue on the m2, I replaced it with the rein unit.
