To me it sounds as if CH wants to express that the M2 is the better driver's car overall. For most of the people out there (95% including me) it will be the better car because it's easier to handle when pushing it hard.
For the very skilled people like CH the M2 might be a little too easy to drive. That's why he prefers the 1M in the end, because it's more challenging for him to drive such a snappy oversteering car. iirc Steve Sutcliffe also reviewed the 1M several times and he called it quite scary in an old-fashioned way. So for the experts the 1M and for the rest of us it's the M2. |

1M is snappy/scarier with PilotSport2 (oem stock) tyres.
With cheapo/wintertyres (square) it's easier/friendlier to manage/in the rain...it's super playable. I love(d) it! M2 in stockform(PSS) is easier and more user friendly. 1M feels more special to begin with, that's my truth. But as an overall car, M2. Cheers Robin (ex 1M) |

Chris Harris is such a bimmer guy.
If these cars aged 30 more years - which one would u get? I'd go for the legacy engine. Sorry but not sorry. The n54 over n55. If it was to be between chassis... then it would be a more difficult decision. For that price range, m2 new or 1m used I would get a 997.1 and still have some left over for some maintenance. Passion and power w bigger balls ? .

After driving both (finally), I'd lease an M2, but I'd defiantly buy the 1M as a permanent addition to my garage. M2 is excellent, but doesn't feel special. 1M feels special.

Buying a used 1M is probably a wise move financially. However, I'm NOT a super accomplished race car driver and I do my driving on public roads. I'm also a father of two.
I do NOT want snappy. I do NOT want angry. I do NOT want the car to kill me. I think the M2 is special enough for my purposes. Will probably try to keep mine for a long time. It might not be as rare and legendary as the 1M but it will still be pretty popular for many years. I also really love the way the M2 looks. The 1M looks too cute from some angles. |

1M values haven't needed a bump in the first 5 years ... i think you can chuck that rationale into the rubbish bin...

Back in the days I did a tesdrive with the 1M...great car but it could not convince me to get one besides my Z4M. The M2 is more my kind of "daily"car and is a nice addition with my Z4M. Both are great and both have their downsides and strenghts. The things I personally did not like on the 1M where corrected on the M2 (brakes, handling on the limit, engine respons, look of the exterior).

So what's up with Australia then? 1M values here are below e90 M3 values for cars of similar kms. I know a couple of people who've bought a 1M used, and they didn't pay anything like the crazy prices people in the UK and US seem to be willing to pay. Reckon we should start exporting and/or converting them to the US and UK and make a quick buck.

Not many left in uk, either stolen or written off and the ones left are in really poor condition.
I have family over there and we spoke about this a fair bit If I exported mine I could easily fetch 130k aud over there Don't know if it would be that easy though, laws about imports into the uk |

$130k AUD is about £77K is a bit optimistic, low mileage cars being sold by dealers are up at £60K but most are selling at closer to £50K. |

All the ones he has seen after seeing mine don't come even close I wont be sending mine to the uk anyway but depending on the exchange rate the price will flactuate when I was looking into this the pound was really strong against the aud around Jan this year it was 0.47 aud So 130k aud is 61k GBP |

Yes, and what he really says is that the 1M is unpredictable and dangerous and thus more fun on a track in the hands of a very experienced driver.
The better car for you and me? Take a guess... |
