M4 seats swapped into my M2

I picked up a set of M4 front and rear seats. The backs were already painted Yas Marina Blue. I was on the fence about replacing them with carbon fiber backs but the color really looks good, especially with an all black interior.

The rear backs required on to have the bracket swapped as they M4 bracket is different. The bottom has to have a mod done on the back but waiting for it to come back from having that finished.

The fronts only required to swap the computer under the seat. Tried it without swapping the computer and got instant airbag warnings when I connected the battery back. Oh well, I tried the short cut.

All functions in the seats work as normal, except the ///M logo doesn't light up. I'll have to figure out the wiring for that another day. Memory, heat, and all adjustments work as they should in either car.

I'm so happy with the way they feel and they really do look good in my opinion.

They look amazing!!

I am thinking of painting the back of my M2C in the body color Hockenheim Silver... and I want exactly that same finish you have.

Any idea how this was done? Is the OEM cover painted directly? Or is it a snap on piece?

When you have some time, show us some pics of the rear seats

Very nice OP. Except seems you missed a key part of the install. I mean, if you were going to all the trouble of taking the seats out...may as well have gone all the way!

Well, if you have trouble with them, you can always try to get the M2C seats. They are very similar to the M4 non ZCP seats.

I'm actually on the edge of removing/selling these and putting in a half cage with fixed back seats.

Remove them and have a paint shop prep/paint/clear coat them. Then snap back into place.

Thanks, if I keep the seats then I'll certainly go this route too. Thanks for the info. Might do it and have it ready for the next buyer.

I think if I went fixed-back, this is the route I'd choose.

I've got a pair on order (started about five weeks ago) and will post more when I get them. Lots of similar wiring issues I think (or just code everything out).

Quick check: you swapped the computers from the original seats and - in addition to working as they should - you didn't get any airbag or seatbelt-related SRS lights?

If so, this looks a lot less tricky than some other posts have suggested where people were having to swap the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners too.

TIA

Wow, I didn’t realize this was such a project. I’ve been drooling over the GTS seats. Might just stick with M2C if I do swap. Also curious where you guys are ordering from if you’re not getting new ones

Retrofit still possible if your car comes with electric seats?

I swapped in a pair of M4 Carbon structure fronts a few months ago and it was plug and play. Total install time was probably 30-45 minutes.

Sadly I'm going to swap those out because I decided to run Recaro's and will put those on the market shortly. I like them a lot but need proper slots for shoulder harnesses.

Swap was straightforward after swapping the computers under the seat. As long as your going with same features ie heat, power, memory then is simple. No coding or errors.

Yes mine had heating and power and new ones have heating and power.

Coding required if going from manual or non-heated to heated if you wanted those features to work.

This weekend's project: M2C fronts into M2 LCI.

Only slight wrinkle might be that the M2C items have lumbar support and seat heating, while the existing items don't.

We shall see...
