US above MSRP dealer markup
I got blindsided by my local dealer for a $5k fee over MSRP at signing day (#! waitlist for 1.5 years). My wife and I have been buying from them for 20 years, including my current E46 M3 special order car. I knew that they had at least two other waitlist interested buyers...so I relented to the $5k. I am still angered by it though.
How many US buyers are paying a premium price?? I am in Texas...,not CA, where this is a standard practice. Respond with your MSRP, above, or below comments. Thanks much. |

I wouldn't do it because I think it is already a bit overpriced and there are probably still cars available at MSRP. If you have to have the CS and you're buying local, then consider shipping cost into your calculations. That might help soften the ADM. Msrp here. I agree with taking business elsewhere.

The M2 CS is overpriced.
With a markup, it's over-overpriced.

You could find one of many remaining open allocations anywhere in the US, pay to have it shipped, and still save lat least 3 grand on a 5k markup.
Your dealer is a dick. |

My local dealer here in Michigan has an allocation. No markup. And you get a free road trip out of it

Please post dealer name as this is complete BS. And this Is only way to eliminate these price gouging practices. A friend of mine had an order for an RS6 and he went to pick it up and dealer charged him $25k over MSRP (Audi Central in Houston). He walked. He had given them 19 referrals in the last year as well. That made no difference. Anyway, post these dealers names for everyone to see so we can take our business elsewhere.

I don’t want to be the guy that says this, but they do it because it works. You signed the paperwork. They’ll gladly trade away your satisfaction for $5k.
When I got my M2 Comp there was a lot of demand out there and not much supply. I drove to the dealership to sign the paperwork and they asked for $20K more, then $5k, then $1500. I left and while was in the car driving back to San Diego I just called random BMW centers throughout Cali. Took only about 30 mins to find one selling at MSRP. My suggestion would be to do the same. Shipping won’t be $5k so you’ll likely come out on top. Besides, the M2 CS doesn’t appear to be in such high demand (really all CS cars) so I think you’ll be able to find a dealership with an allocation. |

Unfortunately this happened to me as well, and they want to force me to have CCB as well. I had money down on it for almost a year. The dealer is Herb Chambers in Boston. I found another dealer who doesn't do this cheap tactics and I'm never dealing with them again.

I’m hoping the deposit is refundable? If so back out and get it from a dealer selling at MSRP, seems like there are still plenty out there per forum posts or by doing some leg work. I put my deposit down quite a while ago and always get my agreements in writing for MSRP, it’s a good safety measure!

I thought so too and I have an M3CS from them. I think it's just greed. They only had two allocations and decided to take them and add mark up.
