See posts #42 & 44.

You’ll need the M235i v-brace, and then decide if you want to chop up the M2 brace or fashion your own bracing to connect the lower support points.

. Any way you can take a picture ASAP of how you guys bent or made a new vacuum line that goes to the charge pipe. The Wagner pipe has the bung in a different location than the stock m2 line will reach to. Anyway you can help please?

This is the only thing that's holding me back on my install.

Alright guys. So I got my evo3 installed today (labor done by yours truly!)

The OPs original post pretty much sums up about 90% of what you need to know.

Here are the answers to what he's missing.

You need to remove the lower plastic pieces that are vertical on the sides of the IC tank. You also ditch the lower IC shroud completely. The vertical pieces kinda attach to that and then clip into the upper frame rail and the upper duct.

The piping- the white lettering faces the front bumper.

The vacuum line. I didn't want to just crank it around to the new angle needed to meet the Wagner pipe so I slowly heated it with a heat gun and twisted it where I wanted it. Off the car.

The IC bolts that connect to the bumper bar. Get yourselves to aluminum tube stock or a pipe, cut it at 2.25" and it's a perfect spacer between the IC and bumper bar. This will really make things rigid and solid. Sorry OP but how you have those bolts isn't doing a hole lot for support.
I wanted my IC to have like zero flex.

You HAVE to get the 235 v bar thing. And cut the shit out of your stock m2 brace to make little vertical lower braces. I used a 4" cut off wheel and flapper wheel. Made quick work of the aluminum.

Also need 3/4" long bolts to bolt the 235 back to the frame rails.

I think that's everything. Personally I though it was Pretty easy to do everything with the bumper off. Definitely make sure you have a good amount of tools and are handy with cars!

Thanks man. I'm sure you're fine. I'm just clinically OCD and always overdue things. Blessing and a curse.

Lol no worries. Honestly there really shouldn't be any more threads on which is the best intercooler for our vehicle....this is hands down it!

The harder you push the better it performs.

Garage List
@GerardzM AmuroRay can we get a confirmation that the Wagner 3 is the best performing intercooler on the market currently?

I barely have enough data to make any claims on it. While I'm impressed with the initial reviews, and quality, I question it's fin density and performance vs other race cores.

All we know for sure is that it's a significant step up from the other 6" intercooler cores (size refers to depth)

no intercooler is the best for all conditions. It depends on your application.
In my opinion, its the best balanced for heavily tuned cars with stock or upgraded turbo

Any details on it? Size, weight, construction?
I see a lot of people post about ICs throughout the years, most of it just ended up being hype.

I can get the details if you want. Its made by pro ally for Ross sport and used on his time attack car and several other high powered m2s. Its around 8kg if i remember correctly the only reason i didn't use it was i would of had to wait for the piping and air guides to be made. I put the evo 3 on as wagner had it avalible for next day delivery

This one works and it's not stepped, it is expensive tho

Just a little PSA, Wagner now includes a pair of machined spacers for the bumper beam so we don't need to purchase long bolts anymore.

I love that IC. Can you weigh it and/or measure the fin density? Do you plan on logging before and after

That's sweet they made that change! I think I posted about it before. The long bolts wouldn't do a ton for rigidity. But spacers definitely do. That's why I made my own spacers.

AWC-F87, Talk to me about this image.

You mention the standoff and I see it here. Whats the rationale?

I didn't make a stand off spacer there. I believe that's just the frame of the car. The only place I made spacers is from the bumper bar to the IC for the long bolts.

Interesting, I double checked my car and I def don't have a spacer in that place. My bracket was just bolted directly to the tab. Not a huge deal but it does force me to trim the brackets more vs how you've done it.

Just out of curiosity, what's your build date?
