Valance Panel Support

Hey there. Hoping for a bit of guidance after exhausting an online search, and a discussion with my local dealer’s parts manager. I just bought a used ‘20 Comp that came with an aftermarket carbon rear diffuser. I’m contemplating pulling and going back to the stock part, but I’m confused about these two ‘valance supports -left and right’ that seem to be required for the stock diffuser but not the m performance. Can someone tell me there function and if they’re necessary?

Valance Panel - part #51-12-8-079-561
VP Support Left - part #51-12-8-072-765 (766 for the Right side)

They sandwich the bumper and clip in from behind. It’s to keep the OEM diffuser on.
