Says right there in the story.

Answer is here:

It's what is underneath that counts first , final definition as in body work , details and styling comes later.

I thought everybody would know this by now...

We did not see a final prototype with the final body till May 2010.

The car is influenced by the M235i Racing in its styling because it is in the genes of the compact BMW from the 2002 Turbo to the E30 M3. Its definition also makes it stand out from the M4.

The M2 will launch in 2015. And be on the market early 2016.
Early pictures of 1M spy shots. No quad exhaust either.

THIS WILL BE MINE! OH YES, THIS WILL BE MINE!!!!

BMW just needs to keep in mind what they did with the 1M and why it was such a great car. They need to put this porky little car on a diet as well. 3500lbs is NOT going to cut it (M235i currently weighs 3,495lbs).
Drop about 180lbs off the car and with the HP ratings they're figuring it would be a fantastic car.

As far as M3/4 vs. M2 owners: I don't think it'll be cross shopped all that much. M3/4 has really become more luxurious and is aimed for a person who is really looking for an all around performance car (hence the hardtop convertible that weighs over 4000lbs).
I say keep the M2 focused as a more track oriented, driver experience at all costs type of car (similar to 911TT vs. GT3). Who cares of the M2 is quicker around the track than the M3/4? I really don't think the average buyer is going to be worried about lap times. I see plenty of M3s out there that will NEVER see the track. TBH: Whenever I'm at the track it is far and few between that I even see an e9X M3!

SWEET...although I did wish it looked a little sleeker but I guess the car would just be awfully small then.

Idea on price range (usd)?

Low $50s?
Mid $50s?
High $50s?
Over $50?

Single or twin turbo??

I don't see it. Even in this early test mule I don't see it.

This thing has more than likely just started testing, so the body and front end will look much cleaner and more "BMW M" when they're finished.

IMHO: I think the new Mustang looks like a Honda Accord Coupe if it were RWD

I'm thinking low 50s.

And people need to damn learn how to read. I can't go through a thread without wanting to bash in because people are so damn clueless (not you ska )

Unless it comes out with the LCI 2er, you're going to see HUD on the M2. HUD requires a completely different dash not to mention different magnesium dash carrier too.

The camo makes it hard to see the details, but I'm sure the end result will be promising.
