265/35-19 and 295/30-19 Track Setup

I've been searching on the forums for the past week, trying to find more information on fitment.

Trying to stay away from 265/30-19 option for the fronts because the lack of desired tires availability.

I am looking to run Goodyear Supercar 3R, or Yokohama A052 tires, and they are only available with the 265/35-19 sizing for the fronts.

The car will be getting the Ohlins R&T and GC camber plates installed. I could always install everything, and measure once it is installed, but I am getting a bit impatient wanting to order the wheel/tire combo to get the M2C on track asap.

I am well aware that different manufacturers have different measured dimensions even if the sizing is similar.

Has anyone run the 265/35-19 tires up front on this car on a similar setup?

Same here except on OG and looking to run RE71r or similar.

Yup.

I’m moving back to 18s, but you can read about all my 19” track wheel/tire setups here: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1464923

In general, 265/35 will rub under compression and lock to lock. It self clears after a while, but clearance on the M2C is even tighter than the M2.

And, if you run 265/35 & 295/30 with MDM or traction on, it’ll give you some fits when moving back to stock wheels/tires since the 295/30 is shorter. I only had DSC on when other people drove my car and the car adjusts after some road driving, but just a heads up.

Lastly, I was running 19x9.5 ET33 front wheels with a 3mm spacer for the 265 to clear my Dinan springs. I believe the Ohlins will need a few more mm of clearance.

Yes I've run almost this exact set up 265/35/19 and 305/30/19 Michelin cup 2's on apex ec-7. 19x9.5 et28 and 10.5 et45. No problems. Very minimal rubbing on heavy cornering. You could heat the fender liner and massage it away every so slightly and you'd be golden. Fit the car very nicely, see attached.

+1 After exchanging PMs with F80_Katz to learn more about his set up, I pulled the trigger and am running 265/35/19 RE71Rs up front, 285/35/19s in the rear on 788Ms. After a shaving a little bit off the fender liner where it rubbed and using heat gun to massage the liner (1 hour effort total for both sides ), no more rub up front. Waiting to save up a bit more money then I’ll do the Apex wheels and 305/30/19 to completely mimic F80_Katz’s set up.

I'm interesting in running something similar.

Can you all share some more details of this setup? Are you running coilovers? Any additional camber, etc? Where and how much did you shave, etc?

Thanks!

@chiefsubjugator - I'm on stock suspension and stock alignment settings. The 265s up front was rubbing at a certain part of the liner so I shaved it and used a heat gun to further reshape the area. Took the new set up out on 2 autox events already and no more rubbing. Here's photo of area that I shaved and massaged:

Hi, currently running 245/265 Goodyear supercar 3 on titan7 ts5 m2 specs wheels (9.5 front and 10.5 rear)

I would like to upgrade to 265/35/19 front and 295/30/19 rear

Do you guys feel that the 265/35/19 front still keep the front agility, or it make the direction more vague and slower ?

Does the car tramlines a lot more than with oem tires size ?

Post your review and impressions

I personally think that 265/35/19 is a win if there is no downside once the fender liner is reshape since there's a lot of interesting choice in this size that we could combine with 295/30/19 rear

Also 265/35 and 285/35 19s (763s) here, on street wheels. On track wheels (437s) I'm 265/35 and 275/35 mainly due to tire size availability. I wouldn't be averse to 295/30 rears

Any rubbing issues with 265/35/19 front on OEM rims?

I am thinking to try Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R with 265/35/19 + 285/35/19 but have no idea if the 265 fit.

Yes, some rubbing at full lock but not horrible now that I've raised the front ride height a bit. I also did the liner heating/pushing. I tried spacers but they actually made the rubbing worse on the OEM wheels

BTW, which tires exactly do you have for racetrack? Those 265+275.

Federal RS-RR (not the fastest 200tw tire but for the price point they do me fine…considering half the price of R888r here in EU)

265/30/19 front and 285/30/19 rear are rubbing a little bit already, i would not go for larger diameter… my car has bilstein clubsport coilovers with quite aggressiv settings, -3.5 front camber, -2.2 rear camber..m788 stock rim..

i‘d love to run 18“, but small brakes are needed.. does anybody run 285/30/18 square? eg 9.5 et30 ?

I'm running 265/35/19 PS4S on OEM OG rims with a 15mm spacer. The front WILL rub at full lock (backing out of driveways, parking spaces, etc.) or under significant compression.. I never experience rubbing under compression when daily driving, only when you have enough momentum to really compress the suspension that much (spirited driving, or track driving).

Hope this helps!!

Do you think going from stock camber to -2 or -3 up front would make the clearance issue better or worse?

If I throw camber plates on my stock M2C to add front negative camber in the -2 to -3 range would that make the rubbing worse or better?

Adding camber will not affect the clearance issue, for better or worse. Lowering the car will make the issue worse.
