Did a small external mic recording, it still clips the sound unfortunately, but I wish I could cruise in the 4000-5000rpm range all day! (Clip was recorded backwards I know)

This is a VERY interesting thread.
If someone can actually manufacture a decent sounding midback exhaust for the S55 I think you got a HELL of a money maker on your hands. I know I'm interested but I really don't want to cut apart my stock exhaust. |

Listening to it back to back with a Remus Sport, it was very easy to pick out the appliance drone that stock has. I'm still trying to confirm if their catback will play nice with an AA midpipe I have on order. |

If anyone is curious as to how to make your exhaust stand out from the normal OEM or aftermarket S55 sound and introduce a fuller and multi-octave and multi-dimensional sound where there is "verve" in the note as you rev the engine, here is a link to the equal-length exhaust discussion on the F8x platform: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1675268
Every exhaust still sounds the same, mono-toned and one-dimensional, just that someone spent a few thousand to make that S55 tone louder because of the variance in exhaust pipe lengths between the front and rear banks as they merge at a crossover. A few more equal-length exhaust videos: Check out this guys equal-length design:

Get subscribed to the m3/4 thread. I'll be trialing this setup in the new year.

I came up with an idea and posted it in that thread.
So the equal length exhaust seems to be a pretty good part of the puzzle to the sound of the S55, but as discussed in the other post the stock and frankly it seems every after market muffler is designed for the inherent "unequal" sound of the S55. BUT! I came up with an idea... M2 N55 M performance exhaust muffler. I have one laying around that was tossed after some warranty work that i can use as a test unit. My plan SO FAR as this area is bit in the dark for me and I'm going off the research of others. Since the M2C can (as I currently see it) feature the ability to fit the n55 M performance exhaust if it's cut and welded properly to allow it to work for our cars. Cut it to allow for the twin exhaust paths and also add the 14" U pipe to give the equal length and a possible X pipe with catless downpipes. I think this will be my best bet at obtaining the perfect sound. I'm curious if the valve system of the M2 performance exhaust can be fitted to work for the S55 M2C stock exhaust flap modules. |

IIRC bmw oem connector supplier is molex and they're an auto industry std supplier so you could always by cabling and relevant connectors to make adaptor cable to fit between yr M2Comp harness and MPE valve actuators. Good luck and hope your theory works in practice

While I have not joined the equal header party...I went from stock, added AA midpipe, added VRSF Downpipes, and then finally adding the AeroTurbine TR252 Resonators. I will say the final setup has significantly improved the exhaust note with little effort. The catless DP's gave the car the volume I wanted and then the resonators killed the rasp that came with the DP's. All in all I'm extremely happy with the setup and don't feel the need to change it.
Have a listen, first video was right after the resonator install and they've broken in more to smoothen the note in the 6k+ region now as well:
