Thinking...

The tyre on your 10,5" rim will sit on the rim's outer edge 1,3mm further out than the 10" OEM rim edge. BUT, both tyres being 295, on the 10,5 rim it will be pulled further inwards due to the 10,5 inner rim edge being 11,4mm further in than the OEM. So even if your rim outer edge is 1,3mm further out the tyre will probably stick out less than on OEM. Question is how much...
This is really emphasizing two things for me:

1. There's very little room to go closer to the suspension with my/similar setups.
2. I think the 295/30 on the OEM rim will stick out too far on a lowered car. When I looked at my setup on the car, you may have 1mm at most for additional outer clearance. The 5mm ET difference b/n the VMRs and OEM wheels will not make it feasible to fit 295/30 on a lowered car, IMO.

I say this, but I think DrKevM5 has 295/30 on OEM wheels and lowered Dinan suspension for his street 4S set. The Pirelli track tire is more square, so a 295/30 4S on an OEM wheel on a lowered car probably works. But, my goal here is for the track.

Ah, yes. The TrofeoR are crazy wide. Some say a TrofeoR 265 is more like other's 285. Haven't seen real measured numbers though. Just that they are extremely under speced width wise.

So my conclusion here and now is: OEM will work great with 295 tyres but TrofeoR is a special beast.

Big thanks for your help!!

Wheels:
VMR V710FF

Tires:
Pirelli Trofeo R
Front- 265/30/19
Rear- 295/30/19

Fit:
Front- Great. Clears the suspension without a spacer, and plenty of room to the fender.
Rear- Close on the inner and outer clearances. For outer clearance, we're going to trim the fender/bumper tab just to make sure the tire doesn't rub under compression. For inner, there's a few mm clearance.

Could a 305 fit on the rear? I don't know, it'd be very close. From what I'm seeing, I wouldn't try it on a lowered car. There's only a few mm clearance on both sides with this setup.
Can't wait to see some pictures!

ZM2 - nice. I bet the higher offset looks great; nice and aggressive. Love to see pictures.

Anyone running lowering springs, oem rims with 265/30 & 295/30? If so which springs & tires and any rubbing/issues?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, wheel pics will have to wait until next week. The shop had a hard time seating the bead on a couple of the tires. They said it’s common with super stiff short sidewall track tires. They wanted to pump them up with a lot of air and let them sit in the sun.

I’ll take some pics next week at Watkins Glen.

Well...the weather was nice for the race weekend, but the track was covered with snow and it kept snowing & raining on Thurs/Fri, so I stayed on my 4S’s. Was actually shocked at how much grip they had in the cold, wet, and slush!

I might hit the track in a couple weeks and will snap some pics of the Pirelli’s and VMR’s then. Here’s a pic of the wheel in the meantime.

I'm running 265/30 F and 295/30 R on H&R Springs, but not on OEM wheels.

I'm on 19x9.5 +30 Front and 19x10.5 +35 Rear. I do rub and have max'd out rear camber on OEM adjustability. I am running a low ish offset rear though.

I don't think you will have any issues rubbing on factory wheels. There's plenty of room on factory wheels.

TampaF87 thank you for that info. Sounds like a nice setup. Where does it rub? How’s the front steering with the wider tires? Does it feel less or more responsive and does it feel heavier? Sorry for all the questions.

I have the wheels already, just need to order and mount the tires. I can report back in a few weeks once I get and test the system out.

Happy to report back that I've tested Nitto NT01 275 on 18x10 Apex SM-10 ET33 (12mm spacer in front) all around.

Initial fitment on a lowered M2 with 2.7 front camber was good and did not rub. I've since dialed in more camber - to 3.2 - to be confident that the fronts won't rub under compression on track.

I've done one track day so far and the new setup performed well. Nitto's were good for at least 1 second faster around Lime Rock compared to the Sport Cup 2s at OEM sizes on OEM wheels.

Finally got some pics. The setup did well at NJMP over the weekend. I’m iffy on the Trofeo R’s. A little more grip than RE-71Rs, but the tread pattern with the wider rubber made them tramline pretty badly over any track imperfections.

Why such a large spacer? I run 18X10 ET25 and it sticks out too far. I'd think somewhere around 28 offset would be fine.

I worked with Apex when ordering the wheels and that was their recommendation. For my car, it was needed considering it's lowered and I'm running 3.2 degrees of camber. With the spacer, I like the flush look I get.

TrofeoR 295/30-19 on stock 10" rear wheel

Lowered just a tiny bit (Öhlins Road & Track default lowering)
Camber rear -2.0

No rubbing as far as I can tell yet. Will see if hard cornering on track will rub but I don't think it will, looks good.

Note: The 295/30-19 TrofeoR when not mounted on wheel measured 325mm total width!! But when mounted on the 10" wheel this shrunk to 297mm!!!!

Nice, let us know how it goes.

For my next trick, I will be mounting 265/35/19 & 295/35/19 R7s or 265/35/19 & 305/30/19 RE-71Rs on my track wheels. Should have an update next month.

Note I went for 30 profile though. Both 265/30-19 front and 295/30-19 rear

https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...=10&offset2=40

Just bought two more rear wheels that I'll use for fronts with 20mm spacer:

Those are the sizes and tire I last used on track. Good grip, but they tramlined pretty badly over any track imperfections. Will be interested to get your feedback.

Very curious what hot pressures you ran. Some r-tires, like Dunlops Direzza get really bad tramlining with slightly high pressures.

Also, did you have even wear or extra wear on the tire shoulders?

Edit: reread earlier posts :-) You have more optimal rim widths My 9" up front with 265 is.. not optimal. And your10.5" with higher ET is a very good idea. Why go from 30 to 35 though?

I tried hot pressures from 32-42psi. 38-40psi felt the best. Seems high, but I had a few people that run the Trofeo R’s confirm they like higher pressures. The tires tramlined no matter what pressure I ran them, and I actually run a tiny bit toe in since it’s mostly a street car for me.

Wear was pretty even, but it looks like I could go with a little more negative camber in the front. Will probably move to -3.0 from -2.75.

They don’t make 265/30 & 295/30 in the other tires I mentioned. Also, my car is still relatively soft with the Dinan coilovers and the sidewall stiffness of the 30’s didn’t match the spring rate of my suspension, so felt a bit disconnected. Super quick turn in with the springs catching up... So, 35s may be a better setup for me.

Lasty, I would trim the rear bumper/fender tab. It looked like to me it’d rub the tire under compression.

So far only street use, track is on Sunday. But so far... They are pretty quiet for being r-tyres (as we call them here). I have 2.4 bar (35 psi) in them and I'm a bit surprised they really don't tramline at all compared to many other tires I've tested. I wonder if we have some alignment differences? 3.1 camber front and 2.0 rear. Very little toe at both ends of the car.

I also thought they were pretty quiet on the street. Our alignment settings are close, and I didn’t pick up on any tramlining until I was on track at speed/under load.

Let us know how it goes!

Can you explain what you mean by not optimal? What issues does it have?
